Sunday Selections # 200

Welcome back to Sunday Selections!

This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs.

The rules are very simple:-
1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title
2. link back to me, River, somewhere in your post
3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted.
4. hop on over to TheElephant’s Child to see more of her wonderful photos.

Andrew, Jacki K and Kakka often join in.

I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week I have more of the flowers I saw on my walk from a couple of weeks ago.

hibiscus, towering high above me.

not-a-flower, but very colourful, a little blurry, an Eastern Rosella, not often seen around here. There were two of them, they swooped in quickly as I was almost home again, so I raised the camera and snapped the shot too quickly. I hope I see them again soon, and get a better photo.

a single nasturtium.

I know this as native iris, but possibly it has another name.

bright pink oleander.

white climbing rose.

white plumbago. Blue is more commonly seen, but I prefer the white.

  3. What a beautiful walk you took. Love the Eastern Rosellas - and take photos of them almost every time I see them.

  4. fishducky; yes I do and I'm grateful.

Joanne; I appreciate your summer photos too, I get the chance to see different trees, birds and flowers. I like photos of your winter snows too, but I'm very glad I don't have to live in them.

Elephant's Child; I only walked around two blocks, all of this is so close to home. 200! indeed. It's getting a little difficult sometimes as I've lost track of what photos I've used and what I haven't.

  5. I'm glad you were able to get a quick snap of the rosella...it sort of matches the lovely flowers.

I hope the week ahead treats you and Angel kindly, River...take care. :)

  7. I did not know you could get white plumbago. I think I prefer the white. The hibiscus is vivid.

  8. Lovely picture of lovely things. How I envy you the ability to go for a walk although, even if I could do so, I doubt I would find the beauty in our area that you find in yours. I feel that many people in Perth have almost given up gardening because of our hot summers and the very strict watering restrictions. It's a pity because there used to be some really lovely gardens in the suburbs.

  9. So lovely! What gorgeous pictures you take! I am trying to imagine what all the flowers smell like. :)

  10. Lee; I was very surprised to see the rosella, usually we get rainbow lorikeets. I hope I see them again.

Barbara Neubeck; I should walk more too, with the amount of ice cream I'm consuming lately!

Andrew; I hadn't seen the white before I moved here to Adelaide, and I prefer it too. The hibiscus is the same one I took photos of last spring, from a different angle, it has flowers the size of salad plates.

Mimsie; most of the gardens around here appear to be very old and well established, so they would manage on just rainfall. In the newer suburbs there are many with bare yards or just drought tolerant greenery.

  11. Happy Elf Christine; Sadly I can't smell most of them with my hayfever. I'm sure they're lovely.
