England Swings...
Here's a blast from the past
England Swings by Roger Miller
Why am I playing this on a Saturday?
Yesterday, in town waiting for a bus to bring me home, I saw two of our Adelaide Police Officers, in full uniform, with helmets, riding bicycles along King William Street.
Cops on the beat, an easily seen police presence, that's what I like to see.
Anyway, seeing them straight away brought "bobbies on bicycles two by two" to mind and the song is still rocking around in my head.
So I thought I'd share this earworm with you all. 😎

Definite ear worm - as soon as I saw the title of the post in my feed I started singing this song, and there it was - GMTA (Ing-a ling swings...)
ReplyDeleteGrace; I still have it in my head and it's been 24 hours now.
DeleteThanks a lot for the rosy red cheeks of the friggin children!
ReplyDeleteIn truth, I like that song.
joeh; you're welcome :)
DeleteOh my!
ReplyDeleteHadn't heard this in ages ... and now I'm singing it lots!!!
All the best Jan
Lowcarb team member; I made you sing? Yay me :)
DeleteI used to really like this song, and just about anything else Roger Miller sang. Thanks for the reminder. :)
ReplyDeleteMe, too!!
DeleteSusan and fishducky; Roger Miller had some good songs and there was no swearing or smutty lyrics.
DeleteAn oldie, but a goodie!
ReplyDeleteS.J.Qualls; a golden oldie :)
DeleteI remember that one.
ReplyDeleteonly slightly confused; I hoped you would, it's a good one, cheerful.
DeleteEarworm time. But a good earworm. And how nice to see police on the beat. And not just doing drive-bys.
ReplyDeleteElephant's Child; I imagine the drive-bys will be back in winter, now I think they may just be because of all the extra people here for the February Fringe Festival then the Mad March things in town. But I hope they see it is a good thing to have more police on the beat and keep it up.
DeleteRoger Miller is an easy earworm, better than something you hate being in your head.
An old one I do remember. Weren't songs very short back then.
ReplyDeleteAndrew; I'm glad you remember this. I like my songs on the short side, too many these days just go on and on.
DeleteRoger Miller. Amen. I used to know every word of King of the Road, and belt it at the top of my lungs.
ReplyDeleteJoanne; I used to sing along, but I've never belted anything at the top of my lungs. I don't seem to be able to, not without a coughing fit. Probably for the best, no one needs to hear my screeching.
DeleteI agree more cops on the beat are needed.
ReplyDeleteI like the song too.
Merle...........
Merle; definitely need more cops on the beat. Remember way back when we were kids and there'd be cops walking in pairs around the city? And in suburbs too. That's what we need again.
Delete.. one of my favourites...great to sing along with Roger Miller .. thanks for the earworm River., lol ... Barb xxxx
ReplyDeleteBarbara; you're welcome, he's easy to sing along with, all the words are clear enough to understand and the songs are short.
DeleteLove Roger Miller. I love the earworm with him singing.
ReplyDeleteSusan Kane; far better than an earworm of something you hate, right?
DeleteHi River,
ReplyDeleteHe's right!
:o)
Cheers
