Musical Monday # 145

I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site.

I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.

I’ll be finding my clips on you tube, so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist.

Today’s clip is: Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers

  2. We've got their cd! My personal favorite is the Glenn Miller Medley but this cut works too. I grant you Glenn Miller is a bit before my time but not my parents. My mother actually participated in those dance marathons during the Depression and she taught me to Peabody to "In The Mood" . I was probably the only 10 year old who could do the Peabody (it was a dance). This music is so fun!

    1. Grace; I had the cassette tape and lent it to my mum or my sister, I don't remember which and never saw it again.
I prefer the Jive Bunny mixes to the original songs.I've never heard of the Peabody and never learned to dance either.

    1. S.J.Qualls; anything that gets you going is great in my book. I really dislike music that makes you want to crawl under a rock and hide.

  5. I was brought up with the music of the Glen Miller Orchestra being played on the piano by my mother. And then when I commenced working and started attending the local dances each week every time "In the Mood" was played by the dance bands it was a great piece of music to jive to...and jive to it we did!!

In the early 70s I also saw the Glen Miller Orchestra led by Buddy DeFranco perform live at Brisbane's Festival Hall. It was a wonderful concert of great music.

Be in the mood for a great week, River! :)

    1. Lee; You were very lucky to hear piano being played at home. I heard a bit of Glen Miller but usually on TV. I don't think we had any records, if we did then mum took them with her. Dad had a few records by Andy Williams and Nana Maskouri and I probably got that spelling wrong.

    2. I believe we were lucky to have a childhood filled with music, River. We didn't have much money...and lived simply and humbly, but Mum was a brilliant pianist. Both she and our Nana introduced my brother and me to music...of all genres...and we gained a love for it all - across the board.

  8. I hadn't heard of Jive Bunny before but thoroughly enjoyed both the music and the video. Some of the tracks were of music from my early childhood. That was fun!
