Musical Monday # 161

I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site.

I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.

I’ll be finding my clips on you tube, so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist.

Today’s clip is: Guns 'n' Roses

Sweet Child of Mine

and the lyrics:
not to everyone's taste, but I really like it and the beat keeps the feet walking

    1. joeh; in the eighties my kids were teenagers so I heard and liked a lot of different music to what I'd been used to.

    1. Jimmy; my youngest was the Guns'N'Roses fan, so I heard a lot of their stuff blasting from his room, every now and then I'd hear something I liked to I'd bash on his door and ask what it was.

  5. Hi River,

Nothing like a bit of Guns N' Roses. I've seen their tribute band over here, a band named Guns N' Oatcakes.

Wishing you a rock n' roll week ahead, River.

  6. I had an employee who was a Guns N Roses fanatic and his obsession caused me to lose any appeal I might have had for the group.

    1. Granny Annie; obsessions can do that. I remember my dad LOVED Andy Williams, I can't stand any of his songs.

  8. The band certainly woke everyone up when they hit the scene.

And Guns 'N Roses are still touring...at this present time they're performing in Tel Aviv. They've really been on the move, touring everywhere, these past couple of years.

Axl Rose joined AC/DC last year for a few performances.

    Good stuff! :)

    1. Lee; I heard that about Axel Rose, but didn't know they were still touring. Guns'n'Roses certainly woke up my household, my son bought a big new stereo to listen to them.

  11. I just heard this song yesterday. I always stop and listen when it pops up on my car radio. I like Paradise City better, though!

Axl Rose was banned from St. Louis for many years, I think, after causing a riot during or after his concert! Not that I was there. It's just an hour away from here, and I hear about it in the news every now and then.

  12. Val; nice that you heard this, it never pops up on radio here anymore, unless a station that I don't listen to. I almost never have the radio on these days, I'm watching a lot of DVDs instead. A riot during a concert? Hope no one was hurt.

  13. Funny isn't it, how music speaks to the soul, revives old memories? Axl Rose created chaos when he was in our town. Forever banned in St. Louis, MO.

  14. The music is what a song is about for me. The singer is just another instrument. I seldom know the words to songs. I'll pick up on the refrain but that's about it. "Oh oh oh sweet child of mine". The are some songs that I know most of the words too. Like Van Halen's "Jump".
