so sad, almost the end of an era :(

It is with great sadness that I announce what seems to be the end of my Sunday Selections.

Last week, my computer announced a new series of updates and once that was done, things proceeded as usual, until yesterday, when I discovered I can no longer upload photos from either of my cameras.

I thought perhaps the batteries needed charging, so I did that and tried again this morning.

Zip, Zero, Nada, Zilch, Big Fat Nothing. From either camera.

This is just one more disaster on top of the rest of the fiasco that is currently my life.

No wonder my blood pressure is up in the stratosphere!*

(* it has come down quite a bit with the help of those teeny tiny pills, thank you science)

If things change and I can again one day upload photos, Sunday Selections will return.

Don't hold your breath. Windows 10 is a b**** who just loves to play with people in a not nice way.

    1. Sharon Qualls; I don't think mine is falling apart as much as I first thought, it just needs a good long rest every now and again. Like this morning, when I posted this and then it turned itself off and I couldn't start her up again until just now.

  2. I stayed away from Windows 10 until I got a new computer a couple months ago. Before that we were very content with Windows 7.

    1. Terra; I loved Windows 7, but my favourite was Windows XP and before that, Windows 98 was really great too.

  3. Is there a 12 year old in your neighborhood to help? They usually know how to do those things.

    1. joeh; this is a fairly old neighbourhood, not a lot of children around. I sometimes see a few walking to and from their school which is in a neighbouring suburb. I'll give the computer another nice long sleep before I try the cameras again. Maybe buy new batteries for them too.

  4. I am still chugging along with Windows 7 Professional. Actively avoiding Windows 10. I'm not happy that I can't edit my pictures like I used to, after an Office update when my son Genius built my new computer.

    1. Val; there should still be a way to edit your pictures, do you have 'paint' as one of your programs? I use paint to resize my photos and put my blog name on them. Ask Genius next time you talk to him. Or sooner.

  5. I reluctantly moved over to Windows 10 when they were upgrading you for free, I really was happy with Windows 7 Pro but have had no major problems with 10...other than the photo program that I used for years wont work now.

I have had no problems downloading my pictures from my camera to the computer so far, I bet it is a minor thing but the hard part is finding that minor thing, Joe has a good idea I bet there is a kid around who can help.

    1. Jimmy; I avoided Windows 10 for a long time since people were putting bad reviews on the internet about it, then one day the free upgrade offer appeared and my daughter said I might as well go ahead with it, because eventually Windows 7 will be obsolete and remedies for problems may not be available, plus she had been on Windows 10 for a while with no problems at all, so if I had troubles she could help me out.
The camera thing is more annoyance because I can't figure out what's wrong, but I'm betting the laptop just needs a good long afternoon nap, like the rest of us oldies. And possibly new camera batteries.

  6. I'm about to turn in 7 for 10, myself. But not until my computer guru splains how photos will work.

    1. Joanne; I switched to 10 several years ago when my whizz-kid promised help if I needed it. I use the inbuilt Paint program to edit my photos, but it is limited, I can resize, but don't seem to be able to crop the way I used to with 7. I'm sure there are other photoshop programs your guru can help you with.

  7. How strange...and how damn annoying for you.

I hope soon it all works out for you again, and 10 behaves itself and allows you to do what you want to do, River.

    Stay cool....(And I don't mean weather-wise)! :)

    1. Lee; trying to stay cool, really trying hard, but so often calm eludes me with all that's going on lately. Chocolate might help, but that's off the menu. I'm sure it will all work out, possibly the problem is not 10, but just the laptop needing a nana nap.

  8. I lost the ability to down load photos from my camera using the usb port quite some time ago...I can still remove the memory card and download from it. Have you tried that.

    1. only slightly confused; no I didn't try that, the slot for the memory card isn't in a very convenient place, so I always forget about it. I'll give it a go later this evening.

  9. Every Windows upgrade causes me photo grief including the latest Windows update when something entirely different happened when I plugged the camera into the desktop instead of what used to happen.

    1. Andrew; I'm getting used to working out the new ways to upload photos but this time there just wasn't any photos appearing on the screen when I plugged in the camera cord. The problem has been solved now, so perhaps there will be a Sunday selections after all. or I may take the day off.

  10. It is a ploy to get you to buy another expensive camera. When the digital camera came into effect one of the larges companies in the world' Kodak went belly up and died. O A A time there were Kodak signs on every Chemist business front. All Gone now.

    1. Vest; no I don't believe that's the problem at all. The camera is fine, it's the computer at fault. And the fault is fixed now.

  11. My photos disappeared into the cloud and came back when I wiped 10 and went back to 8.1. I still want my XP back, so easy to use for Generation Dumb.

    1. JahTeh; I've never had mine disappear into the cloud, thank goodness for that. I liked XP very much too. But I'm used to 10 now.

  13. Margaret-whiteangel; all fixed now, the computer just needed a good long nap.
