Sunday Selections

Welcome back to Sunday Selections.

Begun way back in the mist of time by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock and now continued by me, with a drastic relaxation of rules.

Originally meant for showcasing old photos lost on your files, never seeing the light of day, the meme has morphed into photos of your choice, new or old, good or not-so-good, anything you please, but nothing rude please.

If you are participating, please leave me a comment so I can buzz along and have a look.

Elephant's Child always participates, and her pictures are always worth seeing.

A random selection today:

a bit of winter whimsy in the city

this had me stepping backwards early one morning, my son's cap and sunglasses where Lola usually lies

devilled chicken wings baking

and deliciously finished baking

Asian Lemon Chicken sauce is very nice,

this is the recipe on the side of the jar, onions and capsicum sliced and gently fried until soft, ( I added some green beans for colour), stir in the lemon sauce, while cooking some rice, add slices of pre-made chicken schnitzel, serve the rice topped with  the chicken and sauce.

followed by home made brownies 😊

I've had a cat door installed in the door to the back porch, Lola is a bit wary of it,

so I tied the flap open for a while with bootlaces and a couple of pegs. today I got fed up with it and carried her to the flap and gently pushed her through. Hopefully she will now work out how to get back in by pushing through and that will be that.

speak of the devil, here is the lovely lady, sound asleep until the camera clicked

hiding on the window sill behind the curtain,

taking a 'sudden death' nap after rushing about then coming to a stop right there

seriously Mum? another photo? *sigh*

my newest toy, I had to buy a new printer because I could no longer get ink cartridges locally for my old obsolete one

super easy buttons, nothing difficult here

she's a photocopier too, and a scanner but I haven't worked that out yet and probably won't until I need to.

paper in via the bottom tray

and out, printed, via the upper tray

isn't she pretty? I named her Cherry

last but not least,

all the greenery hiding V's steps to her flat, have to be careful getting up and down those if I'm carrying something, like a plate of ginger cake to have with a cup of tea.

  2. Enjoyed the photos, especially the city whimsy and Lola and...Um, but why was your son's cap and sunglasses there? (Were you being all artsy and set that up on purpose? Of course you did LOL)

    1. Grace; he left them there like that when he stepped outside to check the weather. He keeps them together so he doesn't lose either one.

  3. That cap picture would have startled me for sure.

    1. joeh; I saw it first in the half light of dawn and had to open the curtains to see what it was.

  4. That's a jazzy-looking new printer! :)

The cap and glasses certainly do look like a head and a face!!!

Your chicken looks yummy, as do the brownies!

I hope the new week treats you kindly, River...and Lady Lola is looking very much at ease..give her a cuddle for me. :)

    1. Lee; she's a pretty one, I saw her online doing a search of major stores I knew I could get to, I bought her at BigW. Online they showed red ones and black ones, but when I got to the store all they had left was the red ones.
The cap and glasses looked a bit spooky in the half light before I opened the curtains.
Devilled chicken is yummy, I know because there are never any leftovers.
Lola has had about an hour's worth of cuddles and pats already this morning.

  5. Cherry's a good name for a printer.

  6. I am envious of your Cherry, so compact and shiny, with easy to decipher buttons. Also envious of your food! I hope Lola adapted to the door after her training regime. That first photo is my favorite, even the poor purple umbrella that has been turned inside out.

    1. Val; I haven't noticed the inside out umbrella. The door remains a mystery. Lola can get back inside, but won't go out through it unless I help her with a shove.

  7. Loving the Lady Lola. And Cherry.
The hat and shades would have had me doing at least a double, and probably a triple take.
    And now I want brownies.
    The greenery is lovely too.

    1. Elephant's Child; I love the greenery, it makes a friendly entrance. Picture the hat and shades in the dime pre-dawn light.

  8. I don't why we put up with our old printer for over ten years. The one we have now is a couple of years old and never misses a beat. Lola one side of the cat flap and her food the other side and she will quickly learn how to use the flap. But she probably thinks, why do I have to go to the effort of pushing the flap open when there is a human here to open the door? I love the umbrella display. Those sauces in jars are very good if not too salty.

    1. Andrew; the cat flap is easy enough for her to operate, after being in the porch, Lola gets back inside easily enough, but she won't go through it to get to the porch without me holding her and using her head to gently push at the flap. I may put her food out there tomorrow and see if it helps. The jar of sauce is quite lemony, just like in an Asian restaurant.

    2. And don't Australians love their Chinese lemon chicken, probably never eaten in China.

  9. Lovely selection of photos - well hope you cat works out that door, saves a lot of getting up and down for you.
My printer is old but can still by cartridges for it and it's a Canon.

    1. Margaret-whiteangel; she'd better start working out the flap, it's much too cold for me to be standing there holding the door open. I only had one place left locally to get cartridges for my printer, now the place has changed hands and they said it isn't cost effective to have them in for just one person. I can get the new ones in Woolies, so the small shop has lost a customer.

  10. Delicious food, treacherous stairs, cute cat, very nice printer/copier/scanner (hope you have great service from it for many years), and do not be fooled by Lola's distrust of the door.

There's a story in one of the Chicken Soup books of a person who installed a cat door, and still got up to let the cats in and out because they seemingly couldn't figure it out. Then the neighbor told her that all day while she was at work, they used it, and had from the first day. Only when she was home did they play dumb!

Thanks to the creative side of my family (not me!), i have fairy garden pictures.

    1. messymimi; I'm sure Lola knows ow to get out the flap, she sure knows how to get back in because I've seen her inside after I've out her out, but I can't leave the solid door open while I'm away, so I'll try the food on the outside of it tomorrow and see if she gets herself out.
      I love your fairy gardens.

  11. The hat and glasses were certainly scary at first. Had to laugh at Lola and the door. Hopefully she will learn to use it.

    1. Arkansas Patti; I'm pretty sure Lola will go out through the flap if she really wants to. She already uses it to come in.

  14. Love the colour of your new printer! I've never seen one that isn't boring gray/white/beige or whatever you call that usual printer colour :)

I'm smiling picturing you having to "help" Lola get out the cat door.

Your food looks yummy. I like the cooler weather because of all the good oven meals and baking you can do and it makes it cozy inside. Right now we're having such hot weather all we want is cold meals.

    1. jenny_o; most printers I've seen are either black or that white/beige colour, Cherry is the first red one I've ever seen.
Lola is still needing help to get out through the cat flap, I think it might be because she can see her reflection and thinks there's another cat out there.
