Ground-breaking news here!
Or not, it depends on your point of view.
Lola went out through the cat flap into the back porch!
All by herself!
She went to it, hesitated, nudged the door, and was out.
Five seconds later she came back in, but she's been doing that part all week.
I am so happy right now.

That's terrific, River. She'll be fine now...probably still will be a bit tentative for a while...but she'll get her confidence. Good on our lovely Lady Lola! :)
ReplyDeleteLee; not at all tentative, she's been in and out all evening since that first time.
DeleteThat's terrific, River. :)
DeleteFood is a pretty good incentive. Out and back in. Mission accomplished.
ReplyDeleteAndrew; no food required, although I was going to try that tomorrow if she hadn't worked up her courage tonight.
DeleteI remember when Tacky figured it out. Yep, worth crowing about. (Grin)
ReplyDeleteSharon; nice to see you here. It's a great feeling isn't it?
DeleteMine are still working on this skill and it has been over 6 months so massive congrats to you and Lola! :)
ReplyDeleteSnoskred; 6 months? try holding them and nudging their head gently against the flap to open it, then let them slide through. That's what I did with Lola for three days.
DeleteHooray!!!
ReplyDeletemessymimi; that's what I said! along with woo-hoo and good girl then lots of patting when she came back in.
DeleteAh the great pleasure from the small things...
ReplyDeleteGrace; funny how the littlest things often give the most pleasure :)
DeleteGood for her. Another skill under her belt .. er .... collar.
ReplyDeleteonly slightly confused; Lola doesn't wear a collar, I put one on when I first got her home and she scratched it off in less than twenty minutes. She never goes outside so I figured she's okay without. The porch she now gets into is completely closed in and safe.
DeleteTa Da!
ReplyDeletejoeh; exactly! and abracadabra too :)
DeleteI know how you feel. Pretty much the way I felt when my cat finally climbed the cat condo after lazing on the bottom rung for a month.
ReplyDeleteArkansas Patti; Lola was like that at first too, I don't think she'd ever had a condo to climb on. Now she sits right on the top platform.
DeleteCongrats on Lola's grand accomplishment!
ReplyDeleteVal; thanks, I'll give her a cuddle from you.
DeleteMazel tov!
ReplyDeletefishducky; thank you, like I said to her later, "it's about time!"
DeleteWonderful news. Though you will be getting less exercise now. Says the woman who gets a lot of hers getting up and opening doors for Jazz. Doors he can open himself.
ReplyDeleteElephant's Child; I'm mostly happy because now I can sleep while Lola lets herself into the back porch during the night.
ReplyDeleteI think that is wonderful news.
ReplyDeleteButtons Thoughts; it certainly is :). I think we're both happier now.
