Wednesday's Words on a Friday

The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems.

The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.

If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along and read it.

This month the prompts are supplied by Cindi and can be found here.

This week's words/prompts are:

1- pardon my French
2- my mind is in a fog
3- you are on thin ice

Well, I'm counting this week as a big fail. I should have known it would be too soon to let Joey take charge.

I'd turned up to the interview, listened as his teacher explained why she had called me in and now my eyes are spinning as I try to make sense of it all.

Joey had fully disrupted the class by declaring his mind was in a fog and he couldn't possibly answer the questions on the board. When called upon to pay more attention, he rudely answered and as the entire class let out a collective gasp, he turned to each quarter in turn and bowed, saying "please pardon my French."
Mrs Hatford had then told him "you are on thin ice young man" to which Joey had replied "good thing I've got my skates on" and ran out of the room.

I know what has gone wrong, of course I do, but Joey has been handling things so well lately. For things to be this bad so quickly, he must be skipping his medication. I'll talk to him about it, but I know he won't cooperate and I'll have to go back to blending his pills into his daily protein shakes until he calms down enough to be reasonable.

    1. Elephant's Child; he prefers the shakes to eating properly, and doesn't notice the medication blended in. He'll be back on track soon enough.

    1. peppylady; mine is sometimes a fog if I don't get enough sleep or enough water, then sometimes when the hayfever is bad and my sinuses hurt from it.

  5. I wish I was encased in thin ice today...it's so very, very hot here! The ice would melt in less than a minute, though.

Again you've hit the jackpot, River! :)

    1. Lee so you'd need a thicker Ice Coat, an igloo perhaps. Thank you.

  6. Yes, Joey will get back on track. I have to chuckle at his "skates" comment. Not in front of the class, of course.

    1. Val; in my mind Joey is bi-polar so needs his medication daily, yet like many, when they feel good, they decide they don't need it.

  7. With #1 you gave me an instant laugh! I sadly learned French at school but could´ve needed Spanish in real life (sadly not on the school list).
Well... all three are a challenge!

And your dtory so reminds me of my French teacher, too!
Spontanous tests, he threw keys at pupils and I am sure he would not have cared if one is behavng like that due to a condition.

My big Niece has (I don´t say suffer as she copes well) diabetes 1 and there was a lot of work to be done to get a school helper, as she certainly could not read when starting first class.

Good short story. My laughing sure went to the serious things in life.
    Both are necessary.

    1. Iris Flavia; I learned a little French at school, but I hated the teacher, so didn't properly pay attention. I can't remember any French now.

  8. Yes, i know some Joeys, they become convinced they don't need their medicine, and stop, and it all goes downhill from there.
