a little project I am working on

and I do mean little, this figurine is a smidge under three inches tall and four inches wide.

here's a couple of before photos:

rescued from the garden, almost completely faded and I don't even remember her original dress colour, you can see her tiny little arms have broken away, I can't find the missing pieces at all, her miniscule right hand is still down on the leaf where it was originally resting.

I don't have the colours I want, so I'm mixing drips of this with drips of that...I was aiming for a turquoise for the leaves, but the aqua I came up with is okay too.

And now:

this is where I am up to, almost finished, just need to do the 'skin' areas and touch up where the paint spilled over some edges.

dripping tiny drops to do the leaves and flowers on her floral coronet was tricky

I made her hair gold but only because I don't have any yellow. Yet. I may leave it gold.

I'm really happy with the streaking I did in the lily, but now have to retouch the gold stamen in the centre. I'll leave that until I get some yellow paint.

  2. She is lovely now and happy to be reinvented with her golden hair. I like how you did the streaking effect in the lily, how did you do that? I did a similar rescue of a faded frog statue.

    1. Terra; thank you. The streaking was a tiny amount of paint on an almost dry brush just lightly drawn across the pink, a whisper of touch. I was ready to repaint my frog set earlier this year, then they were stolen from the garden last May.

  7. Good on you, River. A fun project...one that brings you joy, both in the doing, and in the final result. I agree...the golden hair is wonderful. Meg will be happy to have a friend to chat with! :)

    1. Lee; thank you, I've had fun doing this, but she's so tiny it took me quite a while. This little fairy belongs in the garden, as soon as I make a tiny lake with a tiny island to sit her on.

    1. Joanne; thank you, I know she will be happy to go back. There is a little boy who visits with his grandma who will be happy to see her too. He misses my frogs that got stolen.

  11. A beautiful lady and a strong one, too, still smiling with one arm missing. The golden hair sure makes up for it.

    1. Iris Flavia; she has both arms missing, one from the elbow and the other broken slightly higher up, I wish I had noticed in time to find them.

  12. That's fantastic! I was drawn to her hair, and thought it looked great. I didn't even realize it was gold until you pointed that out.
