Sunday Selections #514

Long, long ago, in days of yore...Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Drop in to Elephant's Child and have a look.

Meg is not the only star today:

Hi, I'm Freddy and this is my brother Freddo. We're the Frog Boys. Care to join us in a cuppa?

Hi Meg, whatcha doin'?

I'm about to eat these yummy cherries,

would you like one? (Notice her new bracelets? They're my old silver sleeper earrings, a perfect fit.)

After all the cherries, Meg sat up to watch the TV news, she wanted to know more about the new Covid clusters in NSW,

but she fell asleep, so the Frog boys bundled her up like a burrito and put her to bed.

On my way out to my closed in back porch I saw this lovely lights and shadows display on my cabinet, from the setting sun coming through the shadecloth.

I was on my way to check if the paint was dry on Meg's picnic seat, she chose the colours herself. The unpainted slats and legs are to be purple. Then I'll have to touch up all the spots where paint dripped.

Just to prove I haven't lost all my marbles just yet with the Covid worrying, here they all are, in a crystal decanter I picked up at a yard sale a few houses away the second year I lived here. Neither seller nor I knew it was crystal until I was washing it later, so I got it for only $5.

  1. Loving the colourful lives you show us. And create.
And yes, a $5 crystal decanter was a very good buy. And displays your marbles beautifully. I have lost mine - and am pretty certain that Jazz has batted them under the heaviest furniture in the house. II am talking metaphorical marbles here - I haven't had the other kind in years).

    1. Elephant's Child; I'm pretty sure I've lost a few metaphorical marbles too. I think everyone did in 2020.

  2. So glad Meg has the frog boys to tuck her in. You got a bargain with the decanter and is a great place for your marbles. I'm still looking for some of mine.

    1. Arkansas Patti; I like the way the decanter was just the right size for the number of marbles I had. I'm hoping The Frog Boys don't lead Meg into mischief.

  3. Freddy and Freddo remind me of a child's toy I think called Gumbo. One cherry would fill little Meg's stomach. Even then she might feel bloated.

    1. Andrew; Freddo and Freddy are bendy toys, popular way back when I can't remember, they are rubbery plastic with thin wire embedded so they can be posed. I used to have them wrapped around stems or other things in the garden. Meg was kind enough to share the cherries with me.

    1. messymimi; I have no idea what they got up to when I wasn't looking, but my jewellery box was open and all the cherries were gone too.

    1. Dora; the cherries were excellent! Crisp and juicy with great flavour. It's a shame our cherry season is so short.

  7. I love the cabinet shadows, and I am jealous of your decanter, which would make a wonderful vault for my Future Pennyillionaire Collection. Hope Meg didn't have a tummy-ache from all those cherries!

    1. Val; the shadows were pretty weren't they? You could ask Farmer H to look out for a decanter in his travels. Meg hasn't complained of any stomach aches so far.

  8. I love Meg's picnic table and I love how colorful it is. Happy New Year to you River, may it be filled with great health, much peace, lots of love and ALL of the colors!

    1. MMM; the picnic table doesn't look quite as I hoped it would. I wanted to put some aqua in the mix but that's a hard colour to find in tiny tins. Normally I would mix my own from sky blue and grass green, but my grass green is all gone :(
Happy New Year to you too.

  9. The picnic table is so precious, I love it. Meg has a very fine life, I think she would say it's a bowl of cherries.

  10. Frog-lover here :-)
And cherries!!! My parents had two cherry-trees (both old and teared down, well goes for all 4...)
    Yes, see why I´m a frog-lover! Cuuute.
Very cool pic with the lights! And the marbles - don´t loose them - you might grow up, Tootles!

    1. Iris Flavia; I had one cherry tree in my previous home, I chose a variety that doesn't need a pollinator so I wouldn't need a second tree. The cherries from that were so delicious and I think the ones I bought this Christmas were the same variety. I love frogs too.

  11. Ha ha, love the frog boys. Meg's chair looks good. I recently bought a mini picnic basket for the girlettes, but we have not had the chance to use it yet, what with freezing days and lockdowns, but one day!

    1. Sarah; I'm looking for a mini picnic basket but haven't found one yet, also looking for a mini shopping trolley. I had one years ago and can't find it anywhere, must have given it away.
