Sunday Selections #537

Long, long ago, in days of yore...Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if overseas bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to Elephant's Child and have a look.

Not a sight you'd want to see when glancing out your front door. Flashing red and blue lights, someone on the road being worked on, police, ambulance and a rescue car all standing by. I hadn't heard a single sound to indicate there was trouble out there.  They eventually slid a rigid board under the person before transferring him to a stretcher and loading him into the ambulance. I still have no idea what happened.

It's so cold here even the monkeys have their hoodies on

Leo and Li'l Hector admire each other's new coats

Ha Ha, we found mum's gloves and made beanies to keep our heads warm

Mum has really small hands we think

We thought about taking a trip in Mum's TARDIS but even though it's bigger on the inside, we still can't even get in the door.

We'll have to travel by spinning the globe

Where is London? Dr Who always seems to land in London

A bit later:

What are you all doing down there?

we are feeling the breeze coming under the door, it is very cold!

Let me lift you all up to the windowsill

Thanks Mum, this is much nicer

the glass is so warm

Look at the trees bending in the wind! and it is starting to rain too.

the girls want me to knit a blanket big enough for all of them to snuggle under to watch TV, but they can't decide on colour, so I chose the purple.

Hi Mum, we really like it up here

Can we stay up here until the sun goes down?

this is all that's left of the block where the house was a couple of weeks ago, big empty space

and piles of rubble. I've been past since these were taken and you won't believe what's going on there.

a brave little marigold blooming in the cold on my front porch

with another set to open

the white geranium keeps flowering too

here's another bud just opening.

I MAY take a break next week, unless I get out with the camera, but I'm still feeling tired from the vaccination reaction, even though I seem to have recovered.

  1. That is not a sight I would welcome seeing out my front door - though it is good that the emergency services were there when needed.
The girls have settled in really, really well. Which is lovely.
If you need a break take it. Fatigue is really not nice.

    1. Elephant's Child; I don't even know how long the emergency services people were out there, it was dark and from the kitchen I noticed the flashing red and blue so I had a look outside. I hope the person is recovered by now. I'm not sure if I have fatigue or a bad case of lethargy.

  2. That is an alarming sight, hope they are OK.
I shouldn't need reminded after all this time but each time I see your girls all bundled up I think -Oh yeah it's cold there. The girls look so cute and cozy. We have 98 degrees here today. Kind of miss bundling up.

    1. Arkansas Patti; I also hope the person is okay. The girls are loving wearing my gloves and I think I heard talk of cutting and stitching to make them permanent beanies. it's a good thing I have lots of gloves. 98 is a bit too warm for me, but in the icy pre-dawn hours I do miss summer. Later in the day I couldn't care less.

  3. A disturbing incident, that is for sure. I hope all ended up well...and continues along that path.

We've had a chilly few days up here on the hill two...a few zero temp mornings...and at 11 am on Wednesday the temp had risen to the giddy height of 8C. And it wasn't the only day similar temps applied...but my two mates and I barely bared our noses out from beneath the covers! :)

I hope the week ahead treats you kindly, River....cuddles to the lovely Lady Lola. :)

    1. Lee; I hope the person is okay too.
We haven't had any zero temps yet, they usually come around late August for us, but it certainly is cold enough on the first of the morning trips to the toilet. Straight from a warm bed is when I feel it the most.

  4. Accidents you don't hear are often the worst. Cyclist? Pedestrian? Not great.

It is amazing how quickly a house can be demolished and a site can be cleared. I wonder what will be built there?

    1. Andrew; I really don't know, except I couldn't see any bicycle. I have had a chat with the deconstructionist and he said what might get built there, but I hesitate to say here because there are privacy issues.

  5. Boy that accident was disturbing, I hope whoever got injured is OK.

The girls are thriving and the hats are adorable.

And how quickly a beloved dwelling can vanish, all the memories flattened.

That particular dwelling was not beloved, left to fall into disrepair.
The girls want to keep their hats permanently. Lucky for me I have more gloves.

  6. Those little coats are precious, and those little lasses lined up on the sill could bring tears. How sweet they are and I do hope you keep letting them have adventures.

    1. Joanne; the coats are tracksuit tops from Ken dolls and the girls without red ones have asked if they can please have the same, so two more have been ordered. I want them to have more adventures, but there's a lack of energy around here at the moment.

  7. Oh goodness re accident, sure hope all is well and you don't know either.
Love your display of your dolls - they are busy at times.
The flowers are coming along there.

    1. Margaret D; It's unusual to see spring flowers in June but I don't mind at all. The jades are covered in pink stars! The bees are happy.
I hope all is well re the accident, but I'll never know what happened. It wasn't any of my close neighbours involved as I would have heard by now.

  8. Oh, horrible, let´s hope it happens to none of us or loved ones.
Twice I needed to call ambulance, mind you, the day was done for me both times.

"So cold", LOL.13C here, I´m sitting in a t-shirt. Oh, but my croc in the bathrobe might join yours. Glovies as beanies is funny - see, as an adult we enjoy this!

Oh, see, my point. I got a vaccine against "swine-flu" several years back, I was sick and tired for two weeks. Hope you get better soon!

  11. Well, I hope everyone was okay in that incident outside your front door! I've had that happen. My driveway was blocked for over an hour making me late to work. I never found out if everyone was okay from that accident either. - I hope you're feeling better soon. We're due for our second dose of Pfizer in 2 days and I am hoping for zero side effects.

    1. MMM; it was actually across the other side of the road, but that's how exposed to the road my home is, completely open. I am feeling much better, apart from being tired.

  14. I wonder what happened there? We have had a number of incidents just outside our house. We are at a crossroad but it is pretty quiet, so I am surprised it has attracted so much trouble over the years!
It is fun to see the girls in their glove hats. I was thinking about the socks I have made and thought that they would be in time for winter, but of course not for your winter! I have finished them I just need to get around to posting them!

    1. Sarah; we have plenty if incidents within the flats complex, so I am used to seeing ambulances come and go, with many tenants here elderly, many others with drug/alcohol issues and mental health issues too.
The girls love their glove hats and thank you in advance for their socks. As they told me, there will always be a winter coming.

  15. While i never want to see those flashing lights, i am so grateful for the people behind them being there when needed, as are we all.

You find such fun things to photograph, and i am grateful. Enjoy a break if you need it, i do hope you are feeling more chipper soon.

  16. I hate to think about the reason for those flashing lights, but the colors in your photo are intriguing. I love the glove-hats! It was 94 degrees here today, supposed to be 99 on Friday. However, I'm freezing in my dark basement lair, and I wish I had a monkey's hoodie!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Val; the flashing lights were around 8-8.30pm. I think the glove hats are a stroke of genius! Does the outside temperature not reach down into your lair? You'll have to get yourself a hoodie, or put on some other winter clothing, ha ha.

  17. Hope, whosoever was hurt got recovered soon. Such incidents are really disturbing and the fact that these do happen near your vicinity is very alarming. Stay safe!

Seeing all the beanies and coats, it's nothing like winters in India. In fact, it's blazing hot but yeah, since a day or two it's raining and the weather is pleasant as of now. Loved to see the dolls all 'dolled up', Girls are having fun really. That's awesome! Hope you too are in good health.

The house in dilapidated state looks sad but I hope that whatever building structure comes up next will be the best.

    1. Bhavana Varun; welcome to drifting. Sadly, around here I see far too many ambulances, many of the tenants here are elderly, some die in their sleep and are quietly taken away, others have accidents. The police attendance is unusual though.
Winter in Australia isn't so very cold when compared to European winters, but after the summer heat we do notice the difference and soon it will be time for frosty mornings.

    1. Dora; it doesn't get as cold as your winters, but some areas actually have a little snow now and again. Not where I am though. For me, the coldest times are when the morning air feels like it has ice in it, but even then the sun has a bit of warmth. We do rug up in beanies, gloves and jackets though.
