Andrew; did you ever watch Good News Week when it was on the ABC? It was one of our favourite shows until it went to a commercial channel and got ruined.
Well, that was rather lovely. I'd never heard of Doug Anthony All Stars so had to look them up. They are not well known in the UK. I've listened to them a few times on Youtube now - not only melodic but hilarious too! Around My Kitchen Table
I’m late to the party, but I’ll throw in my two bobs’ worth anyway. I’ve always liked the Dougs, from The Big Gig to DAAS Kapital. Like you, I liked the ABC version of Good News Week. I watched the commercial one through gritted teeth. Also, we’ll forget that rather inane quiz that Paul hosted. Paul has a wonderful singing voice, but he’s been rather reticent to show that. That clip is one of his best. Of course, we should remember Mark Seymour’s several terrific versions, as well as the Hunters’ original.
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections. A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please. Nothing rude or vulgar though. And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look. Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally. Brother R came to visit and brought me some old paperwork belonging to my dad, who has been dead for 25 and a half years now. They'd been stored in a container with moth balls and were quite stinky so I pegged them out on the clothes rack in the back porch three days later, most are now inside, but the heavier items such as dad's passports are still smelly so they are still out there. I now have the original copy of his natu...
well that is quite a change for DAAS, having just listened to "I Fuck Dogs". Paul does have the most amazing voice, really lovely.
ReplyDeleteLinda Sue; you listened to what?? Is that a real song? Paul does have a lovely voice and the three of them together make nice music.
DeleteHe has a lovely voice doesn't he?
ReplyDeleteElephant's Child; yes he does.
DeleteNow that was nice. I feel quite mellow now. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteArkansas Patti; mellow is a nice feeling.
DeleteA sweet performance. Because they are known for comedy, I wasn't expecting that.
ReplyDeleteAndrew; did you ever watch Good News Week when it was on the ABC? It was one of our favourite shows until it went to a commercial channel and got ruined.
DeleteNever had the pleasure before, a nice performance.

ReplyDeleteJoanne; I haven't seen the tribute to Prince Philip. Can I find that on youtube?
DeleteThat's very pleasant to listen to R.
ReplyDeleteMargaret D; thank you, I like it.
DeleteThe first thing I noticed was than most lines start with the word 'and'. I found that odd.
ReplyDeleteCro Magnon; I hadn't noticed. Welcome to drifting.
DeleteGreat voice.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Victor SE Moubarak; it is great to listen to.
DeleteRemember the version of this he sang live on Good News Week.
