Sunday Selections # 594

Long ago, Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if overseas bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to them and have a look.

We'll take a little wander down Adelaide's South Road today. It's a very long road, stretching North to South, in my street directory it begins as the North-South Motorway at Regency Park on map 93, then goes through about 43 suburbs all the way to Sellicks Beach on map 229, which is the furthest suburb, then it just keeps going south from there. Somewhere in there it becomes Main South Road, at Tonsley which I think is map 141.

Anyway, we are on just a small stretch, walking from Glandore to Black Forest. I caught a bus from the city and got off just before>>

this overpass, one of many along South Road.

steps to get up to the top level or down to the ground, this overpass is where the tram goes along, from Adelaide to Glenelg Beach.

the metal screening is to stop hooligans from standing up there and throwing rocks or other things onto the cars below. Most overpasses have this screening now.

I found the Flag Shop I was looking for, in a converted house, where the proprietor makes the flags herself.

I bought these two small flags to replace the paper ones I'd made since they disintegrated due to weather.

interesting colour swirls in this mural

and across the road bright colours on the Chaos Bazaar

a costume hire shop

a little further along is the Coffee Craft Training Academy where one can be trained as a Barista, I think, it is also a cafe. (patiocoffee.com.au)

In the same strip as Miss Maria Rolls, we find Asian Kitchen, yum,

The Village Baker, double yum

Fancy Burgers, with fries probably

and a Fitness Centre where you can work off all those calories and if you have really overdone all the eating and training,

there are funeral options right there

Here is Ana, laughing at her Daddy

and Gen, also laughing. No actual laughing sounds yet, but they sure are trying to.

    1. Linda Sue; they are not quite Buddhas yet, but they are plumping up.

  2. I would totally visit the Chaos Bazaar! I love the colorful, smokey-looking wall mural, too.

    1. Steve Reed; I liked the mural right away, but the more I look at it the less I like it. The clours are great, but the whole thing doesn't appeal.

  3. I got to Fancy Burgers and decided that's what I need soon.

  4. Thank you for taking us walking with you. I like that mural. Our overpasses have those screens up too, though I rarely see people walking over them.
    Love the smiling charmers...

    1. Elephant's Child; I like the mural less now, although the colours are still great. I rarely see people walking on that particular overpass, the tram doesn't often stop there. The babies are totally charming and I'm not at all surprised, their daddy was the same.

  5. So that's where they go to learn how to do portraits on coffee.... lovely selection River and those babies, though, Sqweeeeeeee.

    1. WWW; I don't exactly know what they would learn there, but you could be right. The babies lift my heart with each new photo.

  6. And the best way to end the trip through part of Adelaide...to be greeted by the happy faces of the two beautiful girls! A wonderful start to my day! :)

Have a good week ahead, River...thanks for sharing. Cuddles to the lovely Lady Lola. :)

  7. That was an enjoyable walk with you. We will see the new twins in our family later today. I wonder if they will be smiling yet.

    1. Andrew; it's possible, most babies are smiling by six weeks and your twins are that age now. My twins are seven weeks.

  8. Love the photo. I wonder the difference between our coffee and your coffee.
Coffee is on and stay safe

    1. Dora; thank you. I have no idea about the coffee differences. I know Americans mostly have those drip coffee machines in their homes. This coffee place teaches people how to use the big machines you see in cafes where they make cappuccinos I think. I should check the website to learn more.

  9. When those babies figure out laughing sounds, they'll amuse themselves for hours. I could stand a walk down that road and a trip into the bakery. Nice flags; thanks for the Ukranian!

    1. Joanne; I was tempted to go into the bakery, but I eat too much already. I think the girls will amuse each other once they learn laughing sounds.

  11. I was getting tired on our walk, so I'm happy there were snack options! As for coffee, I've only tried it once, and was not a fan. The twins' daddy must really be a good joke-teller, heh heh! Sounds like they've already got him wrapped around their little fingers!

    1. Val; the walk really wasn't that long, about three miles I think. The twins had their daddy wrapped around their fingers the moment they were born. There's a lot of love there.

  12. Sad with the hooligans. They are plain everywhere. Why? What drives one to this?
You should see all the police (payed by our tax-money) when there are soccer games on! (we live near the stadium).
Basketball, Football, nothing, just darn soccer.
Who paid for that metal screening, you, I guess. Drives me nuts.
Instead: There is violence? Send the teams home. no "games" no more. Easy as that. (or am I too naive again?).

Great flag store. Sad (but good) you have the Ukrainian one, too. I still certainly have the origami-cranes.
Oh, how long will this go on. What a sick man. "Promising" to let the ships full of corn roll out free just to break that promise, too.
I cannot imagine how many people would go at his throat if they could. That coward, hiding... how can he sleep?
I´m not much interested in politics, but... NATO... is that a good thing after all? Bomb him out.

Nice mural and isn´t it amazing what colors can do to a building?
Noodles to go, hmmmm! Yesterday I bought Bami Goreng at the grocery. Awful, and we have left overs. I was raised to not throw away food. I do not look forward to tonight.

Why, thank you. Maria rolls happily through my mind now again :-)
And "The baker-man is baking bread" - ha! I hope I gave you an earworm! ;-)
Burger and then fitness, just my style. But let´s skip the last one for a while...
    Good series, very well done!

Ohhhhh, and the last pics, so cute!
Can they see clearly by now? my Brother told me at first babies just differ light and shadow and certainly have to learn to actually "look", recognize and all that.

    1. Iris Flavia; the hooligans are everywhere for sure, raised from birth to get what they want all the time, and skip school because they don't want to go and the parents don't know how to discipline, which I mean training, not punishing, because you should train from birth, then they grow up with respect.
Add some curry flavouring to the noodles and fry them, most leftovers taste better that way. At least you know now not to buy that again.
I think the babies can see clearly, they are seven and a half weeks old by now and vision comes quickly after the first couple of weeks. They certainly recognise their parents and brothers.

    2. Good idea (I still have left overs, hell, that, LOL) - will fry that with curry for lunch.
Good thing: if it tastes that awful you eat less.
True, spoiled brats. Wonder where the aggression comes from, a life too good?
Cute, I´m looking forward to see what the twins will be up to.

  13. What a nice walk and it looks like just about all your needs can be met there. Adore those babies and though they aren't making laughing sounds, there is no doubt their intent. Daddy is a big hit with them.

    1. Charlotte; The mural reminds me of billowing smoke from a big fire. The colours are great, but I no longer want to look at it. The babies are the best part of my world right now.
