Sunday Selections #760

Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.

In memory of Elephant's Child, the meme is now continued by myself and a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.

Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.

Join us if you wish, just leave a comment to let us know so we can visit and see your Sunday Selections.

Wisteria is now blooming and for the first week or two the scent is quite strong and the blossoms are covered in bees.

Wattle is everywhere, there are several different types, my favourite is the lemon scented one, but that tree was cut down several years ago when the block was sold and townhouses were built there.

this is a close up of the blossoms in the image above.

I opened my front door one day last week to see two ducks on the grass, probably hoping to pick up oats left behind by the mourning doves who get fed by the upstairs neighbour.

these next few pictures are for "The Happy Whisk" who has said she would like to see my "skully" people. These are my four Day of the Dead people who live on top of the DVD shelves,

next to them is the Witch Mansion with 20 small witches,

to the left is this skull with a climbing rose growing on it

and on the end this "candleabra" (spelling?), battery operated with three candle shaped lamps.

on the bookshelf behind the front door, this one has a pattern of vines and roses on it,

a plastic Halloween cup, rescued from the pile destined for the rubbish bin and thoroughly washed.

this one is my favourite, a skull covered in more skulls and tiny bones.

wearing his Fedora, this is "Raymond Reddington" from the TV series The Blacklist.

How often does one see purple scaffolding?

coffee o'clock! outside>

the Please Say Please specialty coffee shop in Grenfell Street in the city.

I've started my Christmas shopping,

this is for my great grandson, who loves tools and machinery and working out how things work at only 2 years old.

this beautifully coloured rosebud

will look like this when fully opened

look at these two, growing like weeds

and loving each other.

finishing with this month's calendar page.

  1. I like your witches' mansion. The open rose bloom is quite different to the bud - so pretty.

    1. jabblog; I have had the witches mansion for 22 years now and all the witches are glued into place so they don't get lost while dusting. Roses around here are often multi coloured and very pretty.

  5. I'm not a big skull fan, but I DO like your candelabra. That's a cool Witch's Mansion. I don't think you've showed us that before. First time I've seen purple scaffolding. The twins will be in school before you know it!

    1. Val; I have two of the candelabra, but only one works now, they other got too damaged by leaking battery acid. I have shown the witches mansion but not for many years, before I met you I think. I like the purple scaffolding and think all scaffolding should be prettied up. Only two years before the girls go to school.

    1. Susan Kane; it would be more fun if the things were sturdier for kids to play with, but they aren't, which is why they are all up high away from small hands. the twins are very loveable.

  8. Wisteria brings back memories, and you are just in time for the spooky season with all your skull decor.

Coffee O'Clock would be a good name for a coffee shop.

What fun to see the twins!

    1. messymimi; the wisteria brings back memories of my home in Sydney where we had a front porch entirely covered and we put an old sofa and chairs out there so we could sit in the evenings as the sun was going down. In the mornings it would be buzzing with hundreds of bees. We don't do the spooky season downunder, though a few hold halloween themed parties. I don't show the twins very often now, their mum is too busy to be taking photos and I don't go to visit every week anymore.

  9. That's a very interesting collection of skulls. I wonder if the grandchildren think their gran is a bit strange.
I can't remember seeing purple scaffolding.
I like the name of the coffee shop.
    The girls are looking gorgeous.

    1. Andrew; the girls have never been to my place, it's too far away and a bit awkward with S in a wheelchair. If I get the chance to move closer to where they live I will take it and they can visit me sometimes.

  11. Hmmm, lemon scented sounds wonderful - hope some are left!
I hope to be that cool when dead! Must check "The Blacklist"!
Love the purple on the construction size!
Oh. Do they have WiFi at the café? Other I´d have to queue up. Oh, wait. My stomach can´t coffee no more...
Yes, a word often forgotten these days, please...
Very cool pressie!!! WOW. The twins are... wow. Today my "little" Niece turns 11!
Wish I knew what I´m doing, really....

    1. Iris; I don't know if any lemon scented wattles are near me, but I am sure there must be some left in Adelaide and other parts of the country too. The Blacklist has ten seasons. They do have WiFi at the cafe but I don't buy coffee at cafes, I go home and make my own, cafes are too expensive. Great grandson is going to LOVE the pressie, it has tools and a drill to take apart the dinosaurs and put them back together. All in plastic of course. The twins are growing too fast.

    1. Wisewebwoman; I love the witches mansion and wish it was bigger, but then it wouldn't fit where it is. The girls are definitely growing like weeds, they are taller than the back of their couch now. Which isn't very high.

    1. Mike; Amazon has Christmas toy catalogues? Were you looking for the dinosaur kits? You'll have to google STEM Kidz toys.
