Sunday Selections # 192

Welcome back to Sunday Selections!

This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs.

The rules are very simple:-
1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title
2. link back to me, River, somewhere in your post
3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted.
4. hop on over to TheElephant’s Child to see more of her wonderful photos.

Andrew, Jacki K and Kakka often join in.

I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week I'm featuring the monkeys at the Gorge Wildlife Park I visited with two friends back in June.

These photos are of eight different types of monkey and I don't remember which is which for most of them. The first is the Cotton-Top something-or-other...

Ah! Cotton-Top Tamarin.

these are quite tiny, I don't think I've seen a smaller monkey.

speedy little ones too, I had a hard time catching photos.

after this photo they all scampered back into the trees for naps.

Now we have photos of the other ones, I forgot to take photos of the signs, so I don't know what I have here. One is a Japanese Macaque, but which?

soft focus mum and baby

this is sharper, we can see them better.

long, long limbs!

pensive thoughts?

pensive? or sad?

just brushed, don't I look good?

what's that over there? Lemme at it!

sigh, it's gone...

maybe it will come back later.

mmmm, fruit!

I LOVE this photo! Look at that smile. He is one of a group of youngsters who were wrestling and tumbling, generally having a great time and he took a break from that long enough for me to snap this, before jumping back in.

  5. Love those little cotton tops, we have them here in Perth Zoo and you can walk into the enclosure and sit and watch them. They only open it for short periods and only let a couple of people in at a time. On saying that, they may have stopped the process, as we did it a few years ago. I need to go back and check. I love monkey and apes and always make a bee line to see them. Haven't checked out the Adelaide Zoo so next time we are over there, I'll add it to the list.

    Thanks for sharing xxx

  7. Joanne; isn't he just the cutest thing? He was so happy, you should have seen the leap when he jumped back into the tussling.

Elephant's Child; I was glad to see the smile; too often contained animals look sad.

Lee; photos of everybody's relatives! I'm a dragon in Chinese astrology. Angel has had lots of hugs this weekend, he's been really smoochy.

Andrew; I think the cutest is the smiling youngster.

Kakka; the monkeys are amongst my favourites too, I spend a lot of time by their enclosures. These photos are from the Gorge Wildlife Park out Cudlee Creek way.

Cassandra Louise; long time no see! I love monkeys too and have quite a few of the stuffed toy variety.

  8. What wonderful shots of those animals, all of them so different but adorable. That wee smile seems to say it all doesn't it?
I head on the news of a tiny baby monkey being hand reared (it may even have been at our Perth Zoo) and it was so gorgeous. Nice to have them as relatives isn't it?
    Thanks for sharing.

  9. I love that last photo too - he looks just like any little boy sitting in a playground, smiling and having fun.

  10. They do look sad sitting behind bars.

  11. Mimsie; I didn't get time to visit the Perth zoo when I was there and now with Angel I really can't travel. I would imagine the animals are similar, just different styles of surroundings perhaps. These moneys were at The Gorge Wildlife Park.

Jackie K; exactly! Just like any bunch of kids anywhere.

Delores; I don't like to see them behind bars either. But so much natural habitat is gone these days. Still, the cages are very large, the animals have plenty of room to move around, unlike many years ago when they were more confining and without greenery.
