Wednesday's Words on a Friday

On Wednesdays, assorted people have been taking monthly turns at putting up a selection of words which is called “Words for Wednesday”.

This month the meme continues here, with words supplied by Carolyn McBride.

Essentially the aim is to encourage us to write.

Each week we are given a choice of prompts: which can be words, phrases, music or images.   What we do with those prompts is up to us:  a short story, prose, a song, a poem, or treating them with ignore...

Some of us put our creation in comments on the post, and others post on their own blog.  We would really like it if as many people as possible joined in with this fun meme.
If you are posting on your own blog - let us know so that we can come along and read your masterpiece.
It’s a fun challenge…why not join in?

This week's words are:

1. boots
2. cross stitch
3. hospital
4. President
5. planet
6. fairy
7. skin
8. loved

here is my story:

I'd been polishing my riding boots and my wife Denise was working on the fairy designed cross stitch project for her craft club, when the news came on the TV.
The new President was named and in her shock Denise drove the embroidery needle deep into the skin of her thumb.
I dropped the boot I was working on and wrapped her hand in a clean towel, then drove her to the hospital.
While I sat in the waiting room as Denise was treated and given a tetanus shot, I wondered what would happen now to the country I'd loved all my life. Reverberations would echo around the planet for sure.

  1. Reverberations are echoing round the planet and no mistake.

Good story, topical and to the point.

    1. Granny Annie; I was going to make it a sewing machine needle but didn't want to upset people so I went with embroidery.
The words did make for a very timely story; that doesn't often happen.
