Ow Ow Ow!
I had my shingles and pneumonia vaccinations today, one in each arm. One of them hurt like hell and I think I'm going to be quite a bit sore tomorrow.
I'm even more sorry now for babies who have several vaccinations throughout their first years.
I plan on staying home tomorrow, probably spending a lot of time napping. In the first week of next month I will have my annual flu vaccination and maybe another covid booster.
Two shots? Always two arms.
ReplyDeleteMike; if they both get sore I'll have to sleep sitting up.
DeleteI felt like such a traitor when I held down toddler Genius to get FOUR shots in the tops of his plump little 6-month-old thighs. He went from being a happy smiling sweetie to shooting me a look like "How could you betray me like this???"
ReplyDeleteVal; I was there when the twins each got two shots and felt truly awful there was nothing I could do to ease their screaming. Next time round they each get four shots and S is planning to have J there to help. I may be there as well, to make the cups of tea when they are exhausted later.
DeleteWell done you. I plan my flu shot for next week some time. Look after yourself in the next few days.
ReplyDeleteElephant's Child; I will be fine, I always am apart from a little sore stiffness at the injection site.
DeleteI had Covid jab 5 and the flu jab last Friday. Bit sore to touch the next day but nothing really.
ReplyDeleteAndrew; I'm not as sore as I expected, just felt it when raising the arm for the washing and deodorising part of the morning. I even slept on that side last night. I'll get my flu and covid jab later in the month.
DeleteI meant to get my shingles and pneumonia jabs last autumn but wimped out. I shall have to be braver this year now that I am officially an OAP.
ReplyDeleteJayCee; yes, get them both. one hurts a LOT going in, I think it's the shingles one, but that's a lot better than getting shingles and suffering for months.
DeleteThe shingles injection was the worst ever!! I usually have a high threshold for jabs and pain and after effects but that one sent me to bed for a day and a half! Glad you got both, though, you will be able to fight the evil yet again! Good on you!
ReplyDeleteLinda Sue; I have a high threshold too, but I really felt that one going in and worried that I'd be too sore to do anything, but I was fine apart from aching when I had to raise my arm for the washing and deodorising this morning.
DeleteI need to checking into pneumonia. But I got my shingle jab.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe.
Dora; yes, check into your pneumonia jab. You don't have asthma like I do but I still think it is essential for all older people who take longer to fight off lung infections.
DeleteAs bad as they are, the illness is worse. And yes, i always feel sorry for babies when they have to get shots, too.
ReplyDeleteI will pray you feel much better quickly.
messymimi; thank you for the prayers, I was fine almost immediately just as I always am. Babies these days get more shots than when we were babies and it's heart breaking hearing them scream knowing there is nothing we can do.
DeleteA little pain for blessed gain. We're due our 'flu and Covid jabs soon.
ReplyDeleteOh, that time of the year again... make yourself something extra-yummy? Or an ice-cream? Good book?
ReplyDeleteI'm all caught up with shots and boosters...I have not gotten the shingles vaccination cause I don't think I've ever had chickenpox..
