Sunday Selections # 696

Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.

Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.

burst seed pods from the Oleander bush out front, this is from last year and I remember well the fluffy flying bits getting into everywhere, this year's season is almost upon us.

a stray beam of late afternoon sunlight reaching all the way into the far corner of the room

Rhubarb and Strawberry jam, part of my Mother's Day gift last May, it's delicious.

Gillian has decided she would like to be a writer

"Look, I can reach the keys! Sort of..."

Jordan offers advice

while Meg declares she will check spelling and grammar.

look at this!!  a school girl plait for Ana.

Gen's plait is a little thicker.

Ana doing something with the hose

love this expression while Gen waits for Daddy to kick the ball

running to catch it

I got it!

Ana: my turn now. They were learning to kick the ball.

 running across the yard

lastly: Happy Birthday Lola, 15 years old today. That's 76 in cat years! The little furbag is older than me now.

Comments

  1. You had me at the shelves of books a the cat sleeping on a window sill!

  2. My mouth is watering for the jam. Those little girls are growing up so fast and I love their plaits.
Happy birthday, Lola, you lovely girl.

  3. No wonder Australians are so good at sport. They start practising football from an early age in their own back yards :)

  4. I like your orderly shelves in the sunbeam. Heh, heh, how many little redheads does it take to write a book? It's good to see the twins in action, and hard to believe their hair is long enough to braid. I am entranced by Lola's fluffy white feet.

  5. Somebody is about to be hosed.

  6. Happy birthday Lola. Older than me too - and much older than our moggies. I can't get over how fast the twins are growing...

  7. My sister had a cottonwood tree and when that white fluff shed it looked like it was snowing! The girls are adorable and I love Miss Lola. Happy Birthday!

  8. I love plaits for little girls. I guess it could be a throw=back to my own childhood when, throughout, I had long hair worn in plaits. :)

Happy Birthday to lovely Lady Lola...and many cuddles from me to her.

Have a lovely week ahead, River....take good care.

  9. I think I may have seen that brand of jam in Hahndorf a couple of years ago. Watering hoses and two year olds, a risky mix. The girls look quite different with their hair pulled back.

  10. Those little girls are bigger every week. Hair is probably longer, too.

  11. The stray ray of sunshine is lovely.

You might want to give Gillian a very small pencil and paper instead of a keyboard, it might be easier.

    The girls are a delight.

I wish Lola many happy returns of the day!

  12. Bob; the windowsill is a favourite place, it's where the sun comes in. The "books" are DVDs.

jabblog; I also have rhubarb and raspberry which is just as nice. The girls are learning so many things so fast now.

hels; it's good for them to get out and run around and learn stuff like kicking, throwing, catching, things that use all the muscles.

Val; the orderly shelves are even alphabetical! they are dvds and having them organised makes it easier to find the one I might want to watch. I'm surprised at the length of the girls hair too. Lola has four white feet and a white tip to her tail.

Mike; nobody got hosed, I think it was used to divide the yard so kicking the ball over it was considered a goal.

Elephant's Child; Lola has no idea it's her birthday and I am surprised at the twins too. Probably my own kids did the same things, but I was too busy to take a lot of notice with four of them.

MMM; I remember that fluff too, my older daughter had a cottonwood on her property when they moved in but it died a few years later. They cut the branches but left the bare tall trunk and use it as a signpost.

Lee; I love plaits too especially for school to keep the hair out of the way and tangle free. I never had long hair, mum always cut it off level with my chin.
Lola had plenty of cuddles this morning.

Andrew; Hahndorf would be a good place to find that jam, but I think "no-one" ordered it from KI. The girls look older with their hair pulled back. There's a lot less of the "baby" now, more of the little girl.

Joanne; they are growing and learning fast now.

messymimi; I was surprised to find sunshine getting into the furthest corner of the room. I'm thinking of a tiny toy computer for Gillian.
The girls are the best part of my days when I get pictures like these.
Lola has no idea it is her birthday and probably wonders why she got extra cuddles, though she certainly didn't complain.

  13. Happy Birthday to Lola.
The hair looks good and it appears to be long for the little ones age.
Are they all CD'S or more likely DVD's with some books in your room?

  14. Margaret D; Lola is sleeping now after a very long cuddle. the girls hair does seem long, but I have seen toddlers with much longer and thicker hair.
Those particular shelves are all dvds with a small number right at the bottom being home recorded and in CD cases. Books are in shelves on other walls of the room.

  15. Looks a bit like the wattle wildflower. I had a supernice chat at the Freo Markets with the lady who puts them into jewelry.
Ingo now figures out how to put it my size :-)
Weirdest: I put it out yesterday!

Wow, you have a lot of DVDs! Can imagine the jam is yummy, likely not so sweet?
Your girls are too cute - hope you share what Gillian came up with.

Wish I had so much and thick hair... looks great!
Oh, boy that trousers Gen is wearing look like my PJs I wore in a meeting when the police offer announced the house is on fire. It was -9C outside, bad memories mae in to fun, thank you.

    Happy Birthday to Lola!!!
I need to get my "work-daily-Max-dose" online. He turns 19 soon and my friend sends me a pic in teams every work-day of him.

  16. I also saw the DVDs as books and had book envy ;) It looks like a place to sit and read forever. I'm happy that the redheads are back in business and would suggest that Gillian starts out with pencil and paper. The twins are adorable and look much older with braids. Happy Meows to the also older than me-feline.

  17. Iris; it is almost time for wattles to bloom here now, I'll get some photos when they do.
The jam is very sweet so I sppread it very thin like vegemite and don't have some every day.
There are more dvds in drawers under the TV, my plan was to retire and then just sit and watch TV all day every day, but that didn't happen. I even have a few that I haven't watched yet.
The girls hair isn't very thick yet but it is curly so looks thicker and Gen's is a bit thicker than Ana's. They have lots of colourful pants to wear and if they wear the same then they have different tops so we know which is which. Usually Gen in purple and Ana in pink.
19 is a good age for a cat, that would be 92 in cat years.

Charlotte; I have plenty of books too, though only half what I used to have, I gave away a lot when I moved here and more since, keeping only those I know I can read over and over and still enjoy. There just isn't room here for too many. The twins do look older now, fast leaving the baby years behind already. I too am curious about what Gillian might write.

  18. Oh my the girls have grown so much. Do they like Gillian and all her friends?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Granny Annie; the girls have met a couple of the redheads and were very gentle with them, but I won't let them play with them until they are older and less inclined to tangle the hair and draw on the faces.
