Sunday Selections #721

Image
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.  A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.  Nothing rude or vulgar though. And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look. Wisewebwoman has also been joining us more often. Beginning on my front porch: a spider has made his or her home in this potplant there is the quite large entrance hole someone has been trying to break into some of the garages down behind the flats. I don't know what this is, but isn't it pretty? It's growing over the fence by the garages from a house on the next street. white agapanthus against a brilliant blue sky in my front yard my white geranium is blooming too though the flo...

Wednesday's Words on a Friday

Image
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. This month the words/prompts are supplied by Wisewebwoman and can be found here This week's words/prompts are:  1. wreath 2. pine 3. ribbon 4. stealth 5. chimney  and/or:  1. toboggan 2. wolf 3. plum pudding 4. ambience 5. blizzard Also including Charlotte's colour of the month Light Blue. Here is my story: Joe aimed for stealth , but needing a cane to get around made that a bit difficult, still he was as quiet as he could be while getting out the old pine wreath his Kate had made so many years ago. He noticed the red ribbon ...

Christmas Cards

Image
Jabblog has featured her collection of Christmas Coffee Mugs recently and has mentioned that Christmas Cards and her mugs frequently feature idyllic images of snowscapes and pretty villages. When I was a child, cards here in Australia also featured idyllic snow covered scenes at Christmas, with robins, holly and berries, or Glittering Christmas Trees with fake snow on them.  Some time ago, Australian themed Christmas Cards began to appear in our stores and I thought my overseas blog friends might like to see a few of them. 'Tis the Sea-Sun! Let it Snow ELSEWHERE! Christmas Wishes from Down Under Merry Christmas Mate! Have a Fair Dinkum Christmas Merry Christmas Christmas Wishes I found a star to hang in my room A Nordic Gnome to stand guard in the laundry My 68 years old Elf still merrily plays his saxophone. Behind him to the right is a Tree ornament, a "snow" encrusted TARDIS with a holly wreath on the door. and I even found my one-and-only Christmas mug. No snowy sc...

Excellent advice I think. an "Aussie style" Christmas window display seen in the city by "no-one" David Jones Store has its traditional Chri...
