Sunday Selections #781
Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.
A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.
Nothing rude or vulgar though.
And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.
In memory of Elephant's Child, the meme is now continued by myself and a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.
Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.
This is what you do
when you can't afford to holiday at a real rainforest resort
this is the new(ish) Airport sign at the corner of Sir Donald Bradman Drive and Williams Avenue/Airport Road so that people will know to turn left if they want to fly away.
The big yellow building in the bottom left corner is Ikea, where I bought the green towels to go with the rainforest shower curtain. It took almost a week for me to not be shocked by all the green whenever I walked into the bathroom.
Ikea has a big new square entrance with sliding doors on bothe sides, much more efficient than the orginal small round entrance
but the opening times have changed, they used to open at 9am, now it is 10am and as I waited, hoping I didn't look too scruffy, many others arrived to wait and some were far scruffier than I was, so I didn't feel so bad about my old and unironed clothes.
Public Holiday opening times are also later than originally.
this native hibiscus was heavily trimmed several years ago and took a long time to grow back to where it once again hung over the tall fence
I love the large leaves which are purple on the underside
The flowers resemble bells when they first open
and are sometimes tricoloured with pinks and orange with the yellow, this particular tree has only the yellow, though the fallen blossoms are orange
This is a row of crepe myrtles alongside the carpark and driveway at the local Woolies shopping centre. I wonder if the planter realises just how large these trees can become?
not a single petal left on this rosebush
and the rosehips are small and orange
Ever noticed how many popcorn pieces look like brains?
this one could be a dress, you see the shoulder straps? and the scrunched up skirt section?
others are just weird.
here's Lola making sure I don't download any scams or viruses
Here is something I hate hate hate. Not the $5, I love money, but I hate bent corners, Our notes are plasticised and bent corners are not as easily straightened as the original paper versions.
"no-one" saw this lovely glow coming through her front door windows
so she opened her dor to see this fiery sunset and a bit later,
a rainbow in her back yard.
Two fat tyres parked across the driveway and no vehicle in sight. They disappeared soon after.
The redheads decided no clothes is the best way to get through the heat.
Finishing with this month's Calendar Page:
and the drawings:

I love your green bathroom - it's lush.
ReplyDeleteHow have you got time to photograph popcorn? Mine makes the journey from packet to mouth very speedily!
Agree with Jabblog- lovely green!
ReplyDeleteI love your beautiful green rainforest shower curtain and matching green towels! And I hate folded up money too -- our Canadian bills are plasticized like yours and have remarkably similar security features on them too, it appears.
ReplyDeleteI do love your shower curtain and green towels. Very nice indeed. I also want to know how you photograph popcorn. LOL but you are right they look like brains. Have a very nice day today.
