Sunday Selections # 287

Image
Welcome back to Sunday Selections! This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs. The rules are very simple:- 1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title 2. link back to me, River , somewhere in your post 3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted. 4. hop on over to Elephant’s Child to see more of her wonderful photos.   I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week I'll show you some of the roses I used to grow in my previous home. All of these were in pots, so were easy to move when I gave them all to the community garden.  There'll be no captions, just pictures: It's possible you've seen these before, and I've just realised my blog name...

Wednesday's Words on a Friday

Image
On Wednesdays, assorted people have been taking monthly turns at putting up a selection of words which is called “Words for Wednesday”. We have taken over this meme from Delores, who had been having computer problems. This month the meme continues here, with words supplied Olga Gadim. Essentially the aim is to encourage us to write.     Each week we are given a choice of prompts: which can be words, phrases, music or images.    What we do with those prompts is up to us:   a short story, prose, a song, a poem, or treating them with ignore... Some of us put our creation in comments on the post, and others post on their own blog.   We would really like it if as many people as possible joined in with this fun meme. If you are posting on your own blog - let us know so that we can come along and read your masterpiece. I’m hopeless at poetry so I always do a story. It’s a fun challenge…why not join in? This week's words are...

Thursday Thoughts # 94

from A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness : " These days vampires gravitated towards particle accelerators, projects to decode the genome, and molecular biology. Once they had flocked to alchemy, anatomy and electricity. If it went bang, involved blood, or promised to unlock the secrets of the universe, there was sure to be a vampire around." 'Red Reddington' (The Blacklist): "never underestimate the power of glitter" 'Red' :  "I don't need visas, passports, travel documents. give me a bug-out bag and fifteen seconds and I'm on my way to anywhere in the world." ME : wouldn't that be great? Pick up the phone, say 'I need to travel' and a car pulls up ready to take you to your own private jet to anywhere. Just like on TV. from Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor : "Now I've seen everything," she thought. 'The 'Shadows That Live' doing chicken impressions." from Da...

Musical Monday # 110

Image
Musical Monday I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site. I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.  I’ll be finding my clips on you tube, so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist. Today’s clip is: Jimmy Barnes  When Your Love Is Gone

Along a clifftop. I read about a coastal boardwalk down along the southern area, from Marino to Hallett Cove, maybe a little further in either direction, total distance approximately 7kms, I think. I didn't walk the entire distance, I quit about halfway along.  When you view these images, you'll see why. Thi...
