Forewarned is forearmed.
ReplyDeleteNot just Aust Post, but so many "innocent looking" emails are virus scams these days.
One has to be vigilant, and it helps to know the signs, and NEVER open - or click on - a link before thoroughly checking out the wording first.
Delete any suspicious emails, then empty deleted items from the list too.
They are easy to spot, once you know how.
Vicki; not opening anything that isn't from friends or family is becoming my new habit.
DeleteDid you get hit?
ReplyDeleteI just read Elephant's Child's post--I'm glad I'm not in Oz!!
Deletefishducky; no, usually I'm warned by my daughter K; apart from that I've taken to not opening emails that aren't from family or friends.
DeleteThanks, River.
ReplyDeleteLee; you're welcome. Stay safe.
DeleteThat's horrible! Can't imagine having to pay like that. I don't open 'strange' emails and even if I think I know you - I won't open links.
ReplyDeleteS.J.Qualls; you've got the right idea. I'm doing the same.
DeleteThose types of scams that hijack peoples accounts were going around the U.S. for awhile but I think they have kind of died out. Haven't heard of any warnings lately. Hopefully, they will get caught and stopped soon in Australia as well.
ReplyDeleteCheryl; yep, they seem to travel the world one country at a time. It's our turn apparently. We send out warnings when we find out about any new ones, but some people forget or don't follow my link to "no-one" over there in my side bar.
DeleteI'd heard of this scam but also knew about your email account being hacked so didn't read it to be doubly sure of safety. Not paranoid much!
ReplyDeleteJahTeh; in this case, being paranoid is a good thing. None of these new scams are going around in my name though, I'm pretty sure the hacked email scams are over.
