Calendar Tuesday # 7

It's July 5th.
Time again for Calendar Tuesday, which only happens on the first Tuesday of each month.

Beginning with the Country Home Ideas calendar:

I like these old fashioned hall stands with room to hang your hats and a drawer to keep your keys in, or anything else you might need on your way out.

Moving on to the Violent Veg calendar:

ha ha! charged for excess cabbage :)

And now, the Suzy Toronto:

and here is what it says:

I Am Wearing My Big-Girl Panties...
But They're Starting to Bunch, OK!

Yeah, I'm a big girl.

And when I need to I can rise to any occasion.
I put on my "I can do anything" face,
jump in over my head and learn to swim on the way up.

But don't be fooled.
I struggle just as much as anyone.
Underneath my "can-do" facade,
I'm shaking in my boots, and it's really hard to get my sparkling and effervescent personality to twinkle and shine!

So if I get a little testy with you, don't take it personally.
And please...don't tell me to put on my big-girl panties and deal with it.

I am wearing 'em, but they're starting to bunch, OK!

  1. Nice looking hallway catch-all.
    The veggie is cute.
Yes, I know all about those big girl panties bunching up and cutting in. Neat words.

    1. S.J.Qualls; my mum used to have a hall stand similar to that one, but the mirror was larger and there were more hooks for hats. She had another one by the back door which had a seat where the lid lifted for storage.

  2. Suzy Toronto nailed it. Again.
I would love one of those hall stands too.

    1. Elephant's Child; when my big girl panties get bunched, I have a hot shower and take myself to bed with a good book, and there I stay until things calm down in my head.
I'd have a hall stand if I ever had a hall. Most of my homes lately seem to open straight into the lounge room.

  3. I missed out on a Country Style calendar, sadly - I really would have liked one. Gorgeous photo.

    Excess cabbage! :D

Seems that's why I'm testy so often... my bunched panties ;)

    1. Vicki; keep an eye on the Country Style magazine in your local supermarket or newsagent, the calendar one comes out around October I think.
The excess cabbage makes me laugh every time I see it and it hangs on my kitchen wall, so I see it often.

    Looking forward to "Wednesday" words.

I've been known to throw my Big Girl Panties in the corner and just curl up and cry when they get bunched up.... works for me . xx
I do like the hall stand... hugs... Barb xxxx

    1. Barbara; I've done the curl up and cry thing, usually in the shower where the tears can't be seen, then I'll haul myself into bed and sleep it off. It's been a long while since I've needed that though, things are pretty smooth going around here.

  6. Another good Violent Veg and I think a lot of people can relate to the Suzy Toronto.

    1. Andrew; I asked at the newsagent yesterday when the 2017 calendars will be out, he said usually September or October, so I'll start looking in September for a new Violent Veg one, maybe a new Suzy Toronto, but the last one was too heavy and fell off the wall when the hanging holes tore.

  7. They are lovely those old hall stands. Years ago, when I was married, we did have one, but like most things it has long gone. I'm not sure what happened to it, or who ended up with it...I just know I didn't! :)

Well said, Suzy Toronto...wise girl! :)

    1. Lee; my mum had a couple of hall stands, one near the front door with a big mirror for checking one's appearance before leaving the house, the other on the back porch with a seat that had a lift up lid. We didn't know the lid lifted for a long time, we were all very young; when we discovered that's where mum was hiding Christmas things, she changed hiding places and we filled that space with toys.

    1. Merle; I didn't often feel like that, but I've had my moments. Not lately, it's mostly smooth sailing here.

  9. For some reason I don't recall those hall stands. Must be because I'm on holiday, but then that's most of the time.
Calendars like those are such fun..
