thank you thank you thank you

A huge thank you to Joanne, who sent me a link to a driver download site, which I followed and hoped it wasn't going to be too tricky, but I managed and now my printer is working again.

I am so glad I don't have to go shopping for a new one.

Now I am able to keep printing hard copies of my Friday stories, and photos too; I have a few of my brother with his grandson, one of which I want to print and frame as a gift for him.

So I'll still have to go shopping, for a frame, which may turn out to be a harder selection than choosing a printer.

    1. S.J.Qualls; I'm glad I won't have to do without a printer. There is a print facility at the local shopping centre, but who wants to walk all the way down there (5 minutes) if it is pouring with freezing rain?

    1. Granny Annie; I get a bit anxious when it comes to fixing stuff here, in case I break it completely, but at least I've made it to the point where I'm willing to try. Before this I would have handed the whole shebang to no-one and asked her to see what she could do.

  6. This made me laugh as much as ding, dong, ditch. Glad I knew about drivers, and now you do, too. I still don't like Windows 10, and am not looking forward to being driven to it.

    1. Joanne; thank you so much. I found I had to pay to register the toolkit, but I have it now for a year, so if anything else goes wrong I should be able to work it out.

  8. I am so happy to hear your printer is up and printing again. Good for Joanne to send you that link. Also, I find it interesting that the Windows 10 update is causing the older drivers to fail. While that makes perfect sense, I hadn't thought of that as a possibility and will now be better prepared if I run into that problem.

    1. Cheryl; the link works for a whole range of drivers, just choose the ones you need and download them.

  10. Please River, I really need that link. Windows has removed the little dashboard I need to calibrate the ink cartridges so pictures of my new great granddaughter are striped like wall paper. Cheryl, resist the 10 update, it's only useful if you have iPhones, tablets, laptops and desktop. Windows 8.1 is bad enough, it's already made me remove my scanner, refusing to recognize it. The last update is the one that has killed my printer for photos although plain printing is fine.

    1. JahTeh; the link is in Joanne's comment to me two posts back. Help yourself.
BUT, I have found that when my photos are striped like wallpaper it's because the ink has run out of one colour and the others can't make it up. If you print a black ink document and the words appear greenish, that's a clue; get new ink.
But go ahead and try the link. I hope it fixes your problem.

  13. River, brand new cartridges and cost a mint. I've tried different paper, still stripped. Went to the site and have no idea if I've downloaded anything, they make it had for dummies these days.

    2. P.S. I had to pay to register the driver tool kit before it would download, but I have it for a year now. Was AU$39.02.
What type/brand of printer do you have?

    3. JahTeh; did you try the link with your brand and model of printer after the "....download/"? I'm pretty sure you did, but thought I'd check.
