so sad,
the photo was taken a week or two ago, the blooms should have lasted at least another month, here it is again:
so very pretty
and this is what I saw when I walked past yesterday afternoon 😢
barely a bloom left, you may see a few right on the roadside edge near the tip of the shadow
I suspect they were chain-sawed off by the same young men who bought the house on the left there, ripped out the yard of greenery and replaced it with pavers. They are currently ripping out the back garden.on a brighter note, a yard closer to home has several mounds of lovely white pansies 😀
Huge sigh. I really cannot understand why whoever it was did that.
ReplyDeleteThe pansies are lovely though.
Elephant's Child; perhaps the new owners are too busy to be caring for plants? But the roses had a watering system in place, as did the rest of their new garden which I saw online when the house was for sale, a nice lawn surrounded by pretty garden beds with shrubs and flowers and all around the perimeter, up, down and through, a cat run, painted dark green and barely noticeable.
DeleteI am hoping he has allergies and is not just mental.
ReplyDeleteArkansas Patti; we may never know.
DeleteA clear cut case of plant maltreatment!
ReplyDeleteCharlotte; definitely maltreatment. I hope they don't plan to remove the roses completely from the footpath.
DeleteI can't understand the reasoning for killing off such beauty.
ReplyDeleteAndrew; I can't either, even being allergic to so much as I am, I wouldn't have done that. And why rip out the house garden? If they had replaced the plants with ones they prefer, fine, but bare pavers?
DeleteI guess they didn't promise you a rose garden.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, there is no excuse.
joeh; no excuse at all.
DeleteI will never understand people like these. No souls, no spirits. And even worse when they live close by.
ReplyDeleteXO
WWW
WWW; they don't live close enough that I can see them without walking a it, so there's that at least.
DeleteWell, you don't know what you've got till it's gone! I think Joni Mitchell sang about these paver guys. She must have been psychic...
ReplyDeleteVal; that paving won't keep their yard cool in the summer heat.
DeleteThere MUST be some reason for this vandalism; unless, of course, they are totally crazy.
ReplyDeleteCro Magnon; I'm sure they have their reasons. They are both young and possibly don't want to spend time and money on gardening.
DeleteOh dear. Sound like he's making the garden how he wants it..love pansies with their faces.
ReplyDeleteMargaret D; I love pansies too, but these white ones don't seem to have the faces. I wonder if they will regret losing the garden at some later stage?
DeleteWhat a shame about the roses and the rest of the gardens at that house. It sounds like the new residents prefer easy maintenance, although maybe they just don't recognize beauty when they see it.
ReplyDeletejenny_o; pavers certainly are easy maintenance, just a quick hose down and done. But they aren't pretty to look at and won't keep the ground cool on a hot summer day.
DeleteI thought you said the "noses" have come to an untimely end !!!
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Victor SE Moubarak; some noses do come to an untimely end, people get their noses out of joint often enough :)
DeleteI am sad for the loss of the roses however there was a time I did threaten anyone who planted flowers in my garden. I did not have the time to keep up with weeding, etc.
ReplyDeleteGranny Annie; I don't have time for weeding either, the trick is to make sure garden beds are weed free before planting anything in them.
DeleteOh. Sad with the flowers!
ReplyDeleteSad it wasn´t by nature but by men. Really, if no time or whatever.. ask the neighbors if they would like to take care before cutting it off!
