Sunday Selections # 573

Long ago, Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if overseas bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child (who is currently taking a break) and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to them and have a look.

the next few weeks we will be seeing photos taken by "no-one" with her phone camera in Adelaide's Botanic Gardens.

I'm sure you will all agree she has a very good eye for composition.

  1. Surely there was a message in the hollow tree. In the old days, that qualified as texting.

    1. Arkansas Patti; I don't know if there are messages, I would have to go and see for myself.

    1. Mike; there are many huge trees in that area, we have Moreton Bay Fig Trees and Banyans and others.

  3. Lovely pictures. I visited Adelaide Botanic Gardens in September 2019 and thoroughly enjoyed them.

  4. We're rained in here...it's been pouring for the past few days with no indication it's going to stop today...predicted to be easing off tomorrow.

A huge tree fell across this lane late Friday afternoon...just out from my cabin. Fortunately, it didn't reach my abode. And by some stroke of luck it just missed the power line as well.

I immediately phoned the local council because this dead-end lane was blocked completely, with no access or egress. Within about 2 hours a crew arrived in their truck with their power saws etc. and cut it up....all in the fading light and pouring rain. I take my hat off to them. No doubt they will be back during the coming week to cart away the debris. The logs are all piled up off on the side of the road.

So, I'm battened down...with much reading to do today, along with a couple of cryptic crosswords...and my two furry mates, Remy and Shama. I ain't goin' nowhere!!

Take good care, River...I hope the coming week treats you kindly. Cuddles to the lovely Lady Lola. :)

    1. I'm glad the crew arrived quickly, I can't imagine you having to climb over the tree to get anywhere. Most of QLD is flooded about now, in the newspaper there is an article about homes in peril and pictures of people kayaking down the street.

  5. You are absolutely correct. "No One" does have a good eye for composition.

    1. messymimi; it is and the paths are very wide so it is easy for those in wheelchairs too. I still haven't been down every single path, at least I don't think so.

  12. She sure has a good eye for photos. I love the hollow tree and the ... flowers? cones? ... that look like a peacock. We're also living in muddy waters for the moment. The last 2 days has been the only ones with no rain for a month! My lawn is a swamp, but we're in no danger and it'll dry out again. Your wonderful and beautiful photos make me feel warm and summery inside. Thank you!

    1. Charlotte; thank you. she does well. I'm not sure what all the flowers are, I would have to go myself and read the labels. I think your lawn probably enjoys the rain, mine is so dry the soil is shrinking away. Yesterday's rain was good for it, but the sun is out again today.
