A rare Musical Monday

a little known song from 1967 by a young Johnny Farnham, who now goes by the more grown up John:

"In My Room" (also sung by "The Cats")

I never knew about this one, only hearing it for the first time on Andrew's blog where it played immediately after the "Sadie" clip, and I quite like it.

    1. Susan Kane; I wish I had half the energy, and breath, of those back up dancers. this is new to me too, from way back in 1967.

    1. Elephant's Child; he does and I hope he manages to sing again, even if just for himself.

  3. You sent me off on a musical adventure. I'd never heard that song before so I looked up Johnny Farnham. He's had a varied career. And one group he was with for 4 years was "The Little River Band". I haven't thought about them in years. I couldn't remember a particular song so I looked them up. The one that jumped out at me was Lonesome Loser, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNqqs4h4M7c. I like this not for the theme of the song but for the harmonies.

    1. The Happy Whisk; yes it is and I have something playing every single day, sometimes radio, sometimes the mini i-pod, sometimes the itunes playlists. My cat likes music too and often reminds me it is too quiet when I haven't turned it on, once I have, she settles down to sleep.

    1. Iris; it is a nice voice, this is from 1967 before you were born. The dancers have way more energy than I do.

  9. I hope he can sing again. It would be hard not to after a lifetime of singing.
I'm not sure the dancers added much to the performance - too much joie de vivre for the words.

    1. jabblog; I read in the newspaper this morning that he is trying to sing again, he's recovering from successful surgery and treatment from a mouth cancer. I agree the dancers didn't suit the words, but I wish I had half their energy.
