Sunday Selections #652

Long ago, Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.

some vindictive ne'er-do-well has thrown a can of paint over my neighbour's front porch, that's the empty can upended in a plant pot.

mess here,

mess there,

mess everywhere, that white circle near the top of the picture is the paint can lid sitting in another plant pot, several of her plants were splashed with the paint.

it is oil-based house paint, so will be quite hard to clean up. Neighbour is currently staying with a friend because of the paint smell.

a view of parklands opposite "no-one's" workplace

she gets out there once a day for a fresh air walk.

Interesting statues outside the Resthaven Nursing Home on Greenhill road

photos taken by "no-one" and the parkland trees are her photos too.

Lola finally came out from under the bed, ravenous, and cleaned up three bowls of food that day.

the Caribbean Lily looks like a starburst firework, almost.  As each centre layer of buds opens, the oldest outer edge ones die.

a yard on the way to the shops has these pretty pink hyacinths,

it's been a long time since I saw hyacinths growing in any yard.

sleepy time high five for Daddy, you can see where the girls get their curls from 😀

J made cottage pie. Spoon? What spoon? Who needs a spoon when I have fingers.

and the girls loved it!  Gen has turned her plate upside down.
Happy second Father's Day J!💖💖

  1. Terrible about the paint attack! Does the neighbor know who did it? Was there a dispute of some sort, or just teenage mischief?

    1. Steve Reed; it's public housing and there are often disputes although things have been quiet here for several years now. There's no way of knowing who did this, it was done at night when we were all asleep. Probably not teenagaers, kids around here don't do that sort of thing.

  2. It was hard to get by the paint can fiasco. Did she call the police? Can her insurance pay to get it cleaned up?

    1. Mike; I don't know if she called police, I didn't see any cop cars pulling up for questions. I hope she has reported it to our SA Housing office, they should help her get it cleaned up, I don't think any of us here have insurance.

  3. A big sigh at the oxygen thief with too much time and a paint can on his/her hands.
Love those sculptures and glad that no-one gets a walk in the park.
I am glad that Lola is feeling better and of course the twins are scene stealers.

    1. Elephant's Child; I'm hoping she somehow finds out who did this, but there's no proof even if there are suspicions. No-one has been on a weight-loss and exercise regime for quite some time now and enjoys getting out for a half hour walk after she eats her lunch.
Lola is MUCH better now, but still prefers to lie around as close to me as possible, her favourite spot is between me and my keyboard.
The twins enjoyed breakfast in bed with daddy this morning, I imagine there is vegemite toast everywhere.

  4. Good morning, River. Why do some people behave so badly!!!!! Things/humans are becoming more idiotic by the day!!

The girls are rays of sunshine. I love seeing their photos...thanks. :)

I hope the week ahead treats you well. My cuddles to the lovely Lady Lola...it's good to see she's poked her head out again. Take care.

    1. Lee; I have no answer for the bad behaviour. Things have been quiet here for several years now (discounting the arguments I hear next door).
The girls are rays of sunshine for sure. You take care too, summer heat will soon be on its way.

  5. What a horrible thing to happen to your neighbour. As you say, it will be hard to clean up. "No-one's" photos are good. The girls have healthy appetites.

    1. Andrew; the paint attack was almost a week ago now and neighbour still hasn't returned home, I don't know what's going to happen there. "no-one" takes excellent photos, her hands are steadier than mine. I'm glad the girls have healthy appetites, picky eaters are so hard to cater for.

  6. How awful, the paint attack. Just looking at the first picture, I thought Lola had spilled something. The paint is far worse. Inexcusable! No-one's pictures are lovely, and the statue's are interesting.

    1. Joanne; the paint is awful and very dried by now, perhaps we will be able to scrape some of it off with paint scrapers. I could help if she asks but she hasn't come home yet. No-one does take great pictures. I like the statues and might take a long walk one day to see them for myself.

  7. Some people are jerks. I like all your photos.
Coffee is on, and stay safe.

    1. Dora; some people certainly are jerks, there's a few around here on drugs, but everything has been quiet for so long now, until this sneaky middle of the night paint bombing.

  8. Shame on the paint-thrower! Paint is not cheap. Was it your neighbor's paint? Or possibly stolen elsewhere? I can't imagine a ne'er-do-well spending money for vandalism supplies. I like that twisty tree. Lola and the girls both like their food!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Val; I'm betting the paint thrower has no shame. No idea where the paint came from. He or she probably stole it from somewhere, there are a few houses in the neighbourhood getting fresh paint. I like twisty trees too and sometimes wonder what makes them that way.
Lola doesn't usually eat that much, but she did spend three days under the bed with no food or water because of her annual migraine. she's back to eating regular amounts now. The twins tend to polish off everything they are given.

  9. Oh that paint mess is appalling, I wonder did they catch this lowlife who did such a thing? And yay those girls are darling.

    1. WWW; the gilrs are darlings aren't they, I'm quite proud of them. nobody knows who did the paint throwing so the vandal most likely won't get caught.

  10. I'm very sad for the neighbor, and sad there's a person out there so warped and ill in the mind as to be able and willing to do such a thing.

The photos of the park and flowers are a feast for the eyes and the girls are a delight.

    1. messymimi; there are quite a few warped people around, most are drug addicts but they don't usually do things like this. I'm very happy with the rest of the photos here, love the little girls who are fast growing out of babyhood.

  11. The statues outside the Resthaven Nursing Home look very interesting (to me). Hopefully the residents get out regularly and enjoy them. Especially hopscotch, which I used to love in the 1950s.

    1. Hels; I used to love hopscotch and when kids drew the squares on footpaths during covid lockdowns I often "hopped" through them on my way to wherever I was going. I had to cross my arms over my chest to stop the boobs hitting my chin though. I also hope the residents get out to see the statues, I hope they have outings and walks in the gardens.

  12. What an awful thing to do throw the paint tin over the fence.
Love the hyacinths, don't seem to see many around these days.
    The twins are always gorgeous.

    1. Margaret D; this paint tin was walked up to the porch and the paint tossed around. I haven't seen hyacinths in years. The twins are a delight aren't they?

  13. Yikes, who does that?! On the way to REWE (grocery) some idiot weeks ago also spilled a bucket of white paint in front of the recycling containers, stepped in more than once and marched in both directions. The footprints are still there like on the first day.
I am sorry for your neighbor.
Now that you mention in the comments... we only have insurance (automatically) on fire and water. Nothing else. Ingo also has a car insurance.
Hope the housing company cleans up the mess!

Oh, a hopscotch!!! Ours goes up to ten and no one ever hops apart once my T. He´s mature enough for that, he´s a Grandpa already (the oldest just turned 10!!)
    Love the statues.
Oh, I have no idea how much a cat eats. Sami, the friend who sent you the pirate bear, lost her last cat last week to cancer. Her name was Twiggy.
    Great Lola is feeling better!!

That is a lily, too?! Looks so different from the one Ingo presented me with. The hyacinths are beautiful!

LOL, I think there is a lot of laundry when spoons are not needed ;-)
Or rather not? They look so clean (apart from the face! ... and table...)

    ReplyDelete
  14. Iris; the paint was deliberate and terrible, but why? no one knows. We don't won our homes, if we want insurance we can get it for "contents only" that is our furnishings and other belongings, the flats are owned by the government. I think housing will help with cleanup but only if they have been told and that is for the neighbour to do.
There are many different kinds of lilies, these are tropical.
There is PLENTY of laundry with the twins, the washing machine runs every day and there are racks of drying clothes always in the sunroom which is a very big room, and has four or five big windows along the north wall so the sun comes in all day unless it is raining. The girls probably had bibs on while eating most of their meal.

  15. What pleasure do people get from despoiling other people's property? Shameful.
The lily is so beautiful and carefully designed by Nature to always show its best.
To my shame I have to admit that I hated the messy stage of toddler feeding. The twins certainly seem to appreciate the food so lovingly prepared for them:-)

    1. jabblog; I have no answer for your question, who knows what is in their minds at the time?
I love the lily and am glad I took the trouble to dig up the bulbs form a yard where the house was demolished. I never minded the mess of toddler feeding, mine all seemed to learn the spoon method quite easily with not much food making its way to the floor. The twins love their food.

  16. Luckily plants can survive loads of paint. I hope the spell will lessen and that neighbour will get the worst of it removed. No-Ones photos are so charming!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Charlotte; the smell has already disappeared and there were people there this morning looking at the mess, so hopefully cleaning will start soon. The plants will be fine, spattered leaves can be left or cut off.
No-one knows that I appreciate any photos I can use on my blog and she has a good eye too.

  18. Why would somebody just throw paint like that? I don't get these people.
