The "gardeners" have been through

They get told to clear all paths, for easier access when Police or Ambulance officials need to get into homes.

So:

I took this photo about two weeks ago, by Monday 24th it had twice as many blooms

Tuesday morning the "gardeners" did this:

Hacked off by a hedge trimmer

and all cuttings removed along with the lawn trimmings.   😢

In the past I have asked them not to do this as nobody uses that small path to my steps instead using the longer sloping path between the two lawn areas. I guess they forgot this time.

  1. How thoughtless. The flowers weren't impinging on the path.

    1. jabblog; they were but only by a few inches and the stems were soft and easily brushed aside. I'm going to put a sign on a stick to not trim while flowering. Maybe I'll even add please.

    1. Val; I knew they were coming around, they make enough noise going through the complex, but I assumed they'd remember how I lashed into them the last time.

    1. Andrew; of course, real gardeners wouldn't just hack with hedge trimmers. And they do the same when "pruning" the roses, every bush just hacked off at three feet height, with no thought at all for proper pruning and removal of old or dead wood.

  5. The flowers don't look like it would be difficult moving down that path. Sad they did that.

    1. Joanne; by fall (March) the plants will have no flowers left and that is when I would prune them, so I'll wait and see what sort of growth they've made by then. I may not need to prune.

  7. There was a time when people would make exceptions to rules when they made no sense.

    1. joeh; exactly! I know I would have. But these people just do what they are told and no more, no less.

  8. Oh goodness but I can understand why they did it even though there is another path.

    1. Margaret D; but that tiny path leads to steps, no one bringing in an emergency stretcher or delivering heavy packages would use it. They ALL use the sloping path that comes right to the porch, no steps.

  9. Very, very sad - and sure not necessary. Some "gardeners" they are. At least you have the beautiful pictures...

  10. You brought back a memory of my meadow flowers, lovingly seeded, being mowed to hell by my "helper" back in the day. I sat in the kitchen after and cried. Deepest sympathy.

  11. I'm sorry they did this.

I once roped off Ms. S's small garden at the retirement place where she lived and the gardener was trying to stick his string trimmer under the rope to mow down her flowers (before they'd budded) when I ran out and chased him off, telling him why the rope was there as he was obviously not bright enough to figure it out by himself.
