Sunday Selections # 653

Long ago, Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.

reading this,

while eating this: cheese, cucumber, red onion, black olives and garlic aioli sandwich.

at Fullarton Park new plantings are protected with green plastic sleeves, near the hollow logs.

deeper in the park a splash of bright yellow wattle

enlarging this should help you read the words about the following Aboriginal Art tree painting, more correctly Indigenous Art.

I think it is beautiful

I took photos from several angles

It looks different with the lights and shadows in different directions

the cut stump edges where branches once were have a variety of designs, this one is a flower

I don't remember what this one is

another flower with a bird on the trunk above

later at night, watching TV, I noticed the lamp being in a new place made the wall pictures reflect on to the DVD shelves

many of the pictures are shiny foiled poster paper, this particular cat on a gold background is my long lost Angel

while this one on a blue background makes me laugh, " go back, we f*cked up everything"

reading time with Daddy on Father's Day morning.

a sleepy pair later in the day.

  1. I like the indigenous art and it was interesting to read the accompanying words.
Toddlers and books - an essential pairing. I love children's books. The girls look very contented with their Daddy:-)

    1. jabblog; I like the indigenous art too and there are more examples in the park that I haven't photographed yet. The girls love their Daddy and rush to the door when he comes home from work.

  2. Your sandwich lost me at "cucumber." The rest sounds delicious. I love the tree art. Parts of it reminded me of octopus tentacles. I also like that reflection on the DVD shelves. The girls and Daddy look like they're having a grand time.

    1. Val; not a cucumber fan? Many people aren't. I can see octopus tentacles in the shape of some of the branches and the dots painted on like suckers. The girls love their daddy so much.

  3. I love the indigenous art - and the explanation is beautiful too.
The twins are of course also lovely - as is Angel.

  4. The Indigenous tree painting is wonderful; may it long endure. Th twins and Angel are beautiful. I wonder where is Angel these days.

    1. Joanne; I think the art will endure, the paint looks to have been sealed against the weather. The twins get more beautiful every day. I have a feeling Angel is no longer with us, he has a microchip, so if anyone anywhere ever took him to a vet for any reason, I would be notified. I think he is on the other side of the rainbow bridge.

  5. That tree art is quite magnificent.

I bet Dad enjoyed his Father's Day with his two beautiful girls. :)

Take good care, River...enjoy the week ahead...cuddles from me to lovely Lady Lola.

  6. The tree trunk looks amazing. How much better to keep some tree rather than cut it off at almost ground level. The 'Go Back...' picture is funny. The last photo, Daddy and Mummy's best time of the day.

    1. Andrew; I like the tree being left too and there are more paintings in the park that I haven't photographed yet. I love the "go back" picture and think I might have it put on a coffee mug.
Sleeping babies are adorable at any time of the day.

  7. Nice use of a presumably dead tree. Giving it an extended life.

    1. Mike; it is a dead tree, now preserved for eternity, or extinction whichever comes first.

  8. That looks like an interesting book!
I´m not exactly frugal (wasn´t the last two days at all!!!) but I don´t waste (to Ingo´s dismay at times).
Hmmm, sesame-sandwich. I just had an avocado. Horrible. Can´t wait to be in your country, they are yummy there! We always have one every morning there.
The logs are very, very beautiful. I think I´ll ask Ingo to play the didgeridoo he bought in Alice in 1999 (time runs so fast!).
Aha, you, too. DVD-galore. According to my Brother we are really old ;-) #TV on demand...
(The pic of) Angel is beautiful.
Yes, in some ways we should go back.
Like my Brother your Son clearly was the winner in passing on the genes!

    1. Iris; the book is fiction and not quite what I thought it would be but still interesting. I will give it to my son when I finish because he likes this author. I don't lke avocados.
Ingo has a didgeridoo? I would like to see a photo of that.
I bought most of the DVDs while I was working with the plan to just sit and watch every day once I retired. That didn't happen, but I do watch a lot of things once I am finished everything else for the day.

    1. PM; the art tree is just one of many decorated items at the park. I like that f*cked up everything picture too, it's so true in many ways.

  10. I'd like to read taht book, and I too see something octopussy in that tree. The twins are cute as always, loving daddy is good!

    1. Charlotte; the book is fiction and involves time travel to another dimension but still fun to read. I'm glad the girls love their daddy and books. They love their mum and brothers too, they are happy natured little girls just like all my family.

  11. It's smart to protect the new plantings. Ms. S once had plantings behind "yellow tape" to say "caution, don't mow here" and one of the mower nuts had to be chased away from going under the tape, he was trying to get his weed whacker in there and cut everything down.

    The indigenous art is beautiful.

It's always a joy to see those girls.

    1. messymimi; that's how all new plantings are protected here when they are done by local councils. I think people could copy the idea in their own gardens if they wanted to. Indigenous art is often beautiful though we might not understand the story it tells.
