Words for Wednesday

The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems.

The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.

If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words.

This month the words/prompts are supplied by River (that's me) and can be found right here

This week's words/prompts are:

1. frozen 2. dollop 3. crazy 4. Bazzar 5. bizarre 6. belt

and/or:

1. boomerang 2. gallon 3. running 4. newspaper 5. calendar 6. cakes

Also please try to include Charlotte's colour of the month which is Antique pink  for September

use either list or both, or mix and match, just have fun.

My story will appear on this blog on Friday.

  1. At the crazy bizarre Cirque du Soleil Bazzar I got to belt down a frozen dollop of whipped cream over and over again.

    1. Mike; short and sweet with all that frozen cream.

    2. I loved seeing the Cirque du Soleil, and it was very bizarre!

  2. Isn't bizarre, even crazy that it needs the boomerang effect of a gallon frozen dollops to force Mr Bazzar who is running the famous newspaper "Antique Pink Calendar" to tight his belt in order to not eat gallons of cake?

    1. Sean Jeating; it certainly is bizarre. Nicely done.

    2. Mr. Bazzar must be a very large Editor in Chief if he has to choose between one or the other and not both

    3. It is bizarre, and a most intriguing use of the prompts.

  3. I am loving Mike's and Sean's contributions this week. Thank you both.
With a house overstuffed with ‘things’ and more available in the stores and at the click of a button it is bizarre (crazy even) just how much appeal a bazaar has. A culture frozen in time? Different scents? A range of colours from antique pink to vermillion? The human touch? Items running the full gamut from absurdly cheap to viciously expensive? Perhaps all of those things. Delicious dollops of exotica. Exotica which is the norm to others.
Whatever the reason, like decadent cakes to the failed dieter, they have a deep and abiding appeal. Not only do we treasure things like the perpetual metal calendar purchased in India years ago, but even the very foreign newspapers that our purchases were wrapped in have charm. And are retained and displayed in our eclectic home décor.

    1. Ach, Sue, thank you! I shall hopefully recall the term "eclectic home décor" when Lady C. once again half seriously, half jokingly fears for the statics of our house in view of uncounted bookshelves in almost every room with thousands of books and uncounted boxes and annual folders with newspapers, magazines and brochures.
      And I don't consider myself a messie.

    2. Elephant's Child; definitely "all of those things", I love this and can picture you wandering around at a Bazzar.

    3. I love a good bazaar and all of the fun stuff to see and shop for!

    4. The charm and appeal is undeniable.

  4. My brain worked again R.

The BOOMERANG didn’t come back to me, what a pity so I began RUNNING towards it before someone took it to be their own. After finishing my Boomerang throwing suddenly I remembered I should look at my CALENDAR on the mobile to see when Miriam’s birthday was, I knew it wasn’t too far away. Miriam was such a great friend of mine we often shared the daily NEWSPAPER as we lived within walking distance of each other.
I decided it would be a nice gesture to make her a birthday cake and some little CAKES for her day but, first I had to fetch a GALLON of water from the shop so that we at home had clean water to drink.

    1. Margaret D: Your brain certainly was working again. I love it - but worry about their lack of clean water.

    2. Margaret D; thank you. I suspect any boomerang I'd throw wouldn't come back either, I'd have to chase it.

    3. I hope you'll be able to make all the cakes in time.

    4. That's a lovely idea, to make cakes for a friend's birthday.

There's a trick to boomerangs, and they take practice.

  5. I am impressed by all the creativity! My brain is empty again.... but I look forward to Friday :-)
