Jenn jilks; I never watch musical reality or talent shows and I especially don't watch the "Idol" series from any country, some of the singers are probably really good, but the judges annoy the s*** out of me.
hels; I have difficulty with newer styles such as rap and those that tend to scream their words in order to be heard over the too loud music. I was used to American accents though from years of American television sitcoms and westerns. English singers were often easier to understand.
My parents complained about not understanding the lyrics when I'd listen to the radio. One of my sons listens to Metal and similar and I'm probably glad I don't understand!
messymimi; it is a sad song. I dislike Heavy Metal, prog rock (whatever that means) and rap. Not a big fan of songs that go on too long either. I find opera hard to understand too.
Val; I remember that one and there were quite a few more that I now know the correct words to, though the words I thought were right often sounded better to me.
So much of today's music just doesn't come up to scratch. Again, I show my age, and don't care that I do...but the music of my era, and years gone by,...is still far better than the messes that we're being present with these days.
Lee; you're right, it doesn't come up to scratch, but only for us. For the generation that spawned it, it's right. For them. Each generation has their own sound and style. I just hope that soon the songs will become less "dark" and less inclined to make people angry. Some of the lyrics are almost hateful or should I say hate inducing?
I shall keep this short and sweet. Thank you! Thank You! Thank You! I am truly surprised to have received this: Laughing Horse Award from Yorkshire Pudding , also known as YP, for being the Australian Blogger of the Year. Click the link to read the nice things he said.
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. This month the words/prompts are supplied by River (that's me) and can be found here This week's words/prompts are: 1. on the run 2. belong 3. street 4. breakfast 5. tent and this image: taken by "Genius" and allowed by Val . Also Charlotte's colour of the month which is Orient Red for September.
Yes, I do! We watch several musical reality shows, and this is something the coaches often tell them.

DeleteEven some 'old' music performances the lyrics could be difficult to understand. It's a nice song.
ReplyDeleteAndrew; that's true too, I've recently learned the true words to several songs by watching them on you tube and selecting the "lyrics" option.
DeleteI used to find American accents in singing difficult to understand, yet Skeeter Davis' lyrics were crystal clear and beautiful.

DeleteA beautiful and sad song.

DeleteWe don't have the data volume to watch, but I agree, today's music is mostly awful!
ReplyDeleteIris; you can listen to this one when you get home again if you remember.
DeleteOh yes R, remember those days, and liked your video...thanks.
ReplyDeleteMargaret D; those days really weren't so long ago were they?
DeleteOh, yes, I can't understand any music on my computer or even on tv anymore. Thanks for this.
ReplyDeleteCatalyst; I can understand some and it helps if I can look up the lyrics.
DeleteI get a laugh out of some of the misunderstood song lyrics. Like "There's a bathroom on the right" instead of "There's a bad moon on the rise."

DeleteYou're right, and then you're not. I love "Mairzy Doats". Also Mondegreens - those misunderstood lyrics - is a never ending source of fun.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte; mondegreens are fun aren't they?
