Wednesday's Words on a Friday
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems.
The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.
If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words.
This month the words/prompts are supplied by Lissa and can be found here
This week's words/prompts are:
1. meh 2. woo 3. yum 4. uh-oh 5. yippee
Here is my story:
In the Ryek home, Jenna
was teasing Elena. “Today is Valentine’s Day! Are you hoping Simon will woo you
with a bouquet of flowers? Maybe a box of chocolates, yum yum?” she danced
around her sister, grinning and making kissing sounds.
“Stop it Jenna,” said
Elena, “one day you will struck by cupid’s arrow and hope for flowers and a
declaration of love.”
“Never!” said nine year
old Jenna with horror on her face. “Boys are dirty and smelly!” “Wait and see,”
said Elena, “I once thought as you did.” “Meh” replied Jenna and walked off to
see who was at the door. “Uh-oh,” she said, spying Simon Goldberg through the
living room window. “It’s for you Elena,” with another smirk and another kissy
sound, she opened the door.
“Simon! What a
surprise!, those roses are beautiful,” she showed him into the living room
where Elena was pretending to study the books on the shelves, then danced into
the kitchen to find her mother taking apple pies out of the oven. “Thank you
mum, I love apple pie!”
“I heard you teasing
Elena before,” said Abigail Ryek. “You mustn’t tease your sister. Now go and
tidy yourself, Simon is here for dinner tonight.”
“Oh yippee,” muttered
Jenna under her breath. “now I have to watch them being lovey dovey across the
table. I do hope she shares those chocolates though.”
Jenna will grow up to swallow her words - it will be a little while, though.
ReplyDeletejabblog; yes she will after she does some growing up.
DeleteYippee! Hope you had a nice Valentine's Day, River.
ReplyDeleteMr. Shife; thank you, I don't do Valentine's Day, it's more a young people thing and an American thing.
DeleteNicely done! The younger ones can be pests, until they grow up and it happens to them.
ReplyDeletemessymimi; thank you. Younger ones always believe it won't happen to them.
DeleteI have a feeling that Jenna would still accept chocolates from a dirty smelly boy. Then slam the door in his face!
ReplyDeleteVal; I believe she would accept chocolates too, but not slam the door in his face. Her mother would never allow that. He would have to be brought inside and introduced.
DeleteI hope she shares as well.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte; I know she will.
DeleteI laughed at "Boys are dirty and smelly!" And it's true, sometimes. Great use of the prompts.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
lissa; it certainly is true of younger boys, I had brothers and sons and several times hosed off the sons in the yard before letting them in the house.
DeleteCan imagine having a Sister (like that) must be annoying! Glad I had / have a little Brother!
ReplyDeleteiris; I was a little sister and an older sister. I was in the middle. I don't remember ever teasing my siblings.
