Wednesday's Words on a Friday
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems.
The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.
If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words.
This month the words/prompts are supplied by Elephant's Child and can be found here
This week's words/prompts are:

Here is my story:
I first met Michael at a masquerade ball in Paris. It was the spring of 1955 and he was posing as a guest, as was I. He called himself a forager, but instead of foraging for foods, he foraged for riches. He was there to steal Dame Therese's diamonds. I was there to steal a small gold statue with sapphire eyes, foolishly lost by my brother when he wagered it at a game of cards. Our mother was furious! It had been in my family for generations, given to an ancestor by a thief who had stolen it from an archaeological excavation site.
I had managed to sneak into the Dame's rooms and was wrapping the statue in a tiny piece of towel ready to stuff it into a pocket of my bright yellow Marie Antionette costume when Michael opened the door a crack and slithered in like a shadow. At my gasp of surprise he quickly crossed the room and kissed me to keep me quiet, explaining that anyone who had heard and might peek in would see only two lovers seeking a moment's privacy.
That was the beginning of our life-time journey playing cat and mouse with the local police forces wherever we travelled after that night. The high I experienced from the excitement of getting away with a crime had me in its clutches and so did Michael from that first kiss. I couldn't see the partnership ending anytime soon, as long as we kept escaping the authorities.
I am smiling - and hope they can continue to avoid the authorities.
ReplyDeleteElephant's Child; thank you, I'm glad I could make you smile and I believe they will continue evading the authorities.
DeleteWe have to stop meeting like that.
ReplyDeleteMike; ha ha, yes we will. I'll go my own way from now on.
DeleteWonderful story, and I laughed at Mike's comment.
ReplyDeletemessymimi; thank you. I laughed at Mike too.
DeleteFear of being caught heightening the passion - what a partnership!
ReplyDeletejabblog; it's a great partnership, they work well together.
DeleteAt least there was a good reason for the theft! And ohhhh, such a cute explanation for a kiss. To the happy couple!
ReplyDeleteIris; Maybe a good reason, but theft is still theft and the police will be after you. That kiss brought them together.
DeleteAt the beginning of the masquerade ball I wore a towel on my head - like a turban. Eye shadow had been applied to my face but for the life of me I cannot remember who did it. As the popular charity event was ending, most of us looked forward to a spring journey to Switzerland where we would meet Professor Hans Glockenspiel, the expert mountain botanist and forager. In the high alps we would be searching for the rare "elsie vulgaris" plant which has bright little bell flowers in shades of new start yellow. It has not been seen since 1972.
ReplyDeleteYorkshire Pudding; I like this, you made me laugh, thank you.
DeleteI would love to go to a masquerade ball! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year✨
ReplyDeleteNo coincidences. They were meant for each other!
