Whimsical Wednesday # 294

Welcome back to Whimsical Wednesday!

The day for your googled giggle that gets you over the hump that is Wednesday and sliding down into the weekend.

think it will work?

Lola update

As you all know, Lola had a visit to the vet this morning and as it was her very first, he called it a first kitten exam and charged me nothing.

He listened to her heart and lungs, also her throat and examined the bald patch around her neck where I think she once had a collar too tight for too long. He agreed I was probably right about that.

I mentioned her *furious almost continual scratching around her head and ears, and he said she probably has cat hayfever, which is prevalent around this time of year and can often account for a little bleeding at the bottom end of things, which is what I had noticed and why I made the appointment.  I was worried about bowel cancer.

He gave her an injection to help with the hayfever, pronounced her in good health and said if the bleeding is still happening in a couple of weeks I should let him know.
He didn't seem concerned at all, so now I am not either.
I can feel my frown lines relaxing as I type.

* the furious scratching? Hayfever related. I pu…

Trouble in Paradise?

Not quite, but there is stuff going on.
Today, Lola has an appointment with the vet, I've noticed a little problem, so let's all cross our fingers and hope it isn't anything serious. Or expensive, or long term.

Last Tuesday, neighbour Pat came hobbling across to my door, in the dark, across uneven ground, to let me know she has called a home visit doctor because she is having pain in her leg, high up in the groin area. On his way out, he knocked on my door and told me she possibly has a blood clot and recommends calling an ambulance, he will fax the information to the hospital. Then a bit later, Pat comes hobbling over again, she's called the ambulance and can I please come over.

I got my keys and followed her. She was limping quite a bit. Once back in her flat, she hobbled around doing a few things with me helping and I answered the phone when it rang, the nice lady on the other end suggested I pack medication, (she's diabetic), a dressing gown and slippers for Pat…

Musical Monday #167

I was introduced to Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site.

I think it’s a fun way to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same time.

I’ll be finding my clips on you tube, so will simply credit that site since there are often so many versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong artist.

Today’s clip is: Elvis Presley

Welcome back to Sunday Selections.

Begun way back in the mist of time by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock and now continued by me, with a drastic relaxation of rules.

Originally meant for showcasing old photos lost on your files, never seeing the light of day, the meme has morphed into photos of your choice, new or old, good or not-so-good, anything you please, but nothing rude please.

If you are participating, please leave me a comment so I can buzz along and have a look.
Elephant's Child always participates, and her pictures are always worth seeing.

We're going floral today, with a fiery finish. Many of you northern hemisphere people may not be familiar with our Australian "Wattle" which is often the first sign that spring is on the way, even when days are cold and nights are frosty. Without any actual frost in my area.

this is the first wattle I've seen since last spring, it's hanging over the fence near where I wait for the bus.

this one blooms a few weeks before the lemo…

Here is my story, part four of Woody Valley Rescue.

Leroy turned the final corner and stopped the car right behind Don Summers' vehicle. Don was standing on the front porch calling out to Wayne, hoping he was inside and could hear him. Ross approached the porch while Leroy looked around the yard in case the kids or Maddy were hiding close by. He didn't see them, so walked to the fence near the sheds and called softly, without get…

Here is my story Woody Valley Rescue  Part Three:

The flight to Woody Valley was uneventful weatherwise, so Leroy and Ross were able to relax and talk while they flew. Leroy had Ross laughing with his tales of Betsy's last birthday party, when the girls used trick candles on her cake, "Poor Betsy was huffing and puffing at those candles and they just wouldn't blow out, she realised in the end and had a good laugh with the g…

Not many photos today, I've been tired a lot lately, so haven't taken the camera for walks as much as I used to.

How much green does one girl need?

An unexpected bright yellow Watsonia bulb has bloomed amongst the Agapanthus.

Lola being totally disinterested in a modelling career. See that white spot just below centre? That's the tip of her tail, snow white.

Here is my story: Part two

Had the changing family dynamic been the trigger that set his brother off this time?  That shouldn't happen if Wayne stayed on his medication, but perhaps there were other factors, possibly the medication was no longer doing its job. Ross didn't like to interfere, Wayne had been insulted to find himself in a locked psychiatric ward after that first breakdown. But Jessy had sounded desperate.

He'd told Jess…
