Sunday Selections # 343
Welcome back to Sunday Selections.
Begun way back in the mist of time by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock and now continued by me, with a drastic relaxation of rules.
Originally meant for showcasing old photos lost on your files, never seeing the light of day, the meme has morphed into photos of your choice, new or old, good or not-so-good, anything you please, but nothing rude please.
If you are participating, please leave me a comment so I can buzz along and have a look.
Elephant's Child always participates, and her pictures are always worth seeing.
Got your cuppa tea ready?
I bought this medium sized cat tower for Lola, Angel's giant tower stays on the back porch and his little one was a bit wrecked
after a day of ignoring it, she got used to it quickly
Here she is on the very top level. I thought she was sound asleep, but she opened her eyes at the sound of the camera.
I discovered Lola likes to drink from a running tap, she jumped up onto the bench there and meowed at me, then looked into the basin, so I turned on the tap so it was just dribbling and she was happy.
drinking from the tiny pool around the plug hole.
this is a bit blurry, I was trying to sneak up and not disturb her, because look at the perfectly crossed paws 😊 the golden colour is because of the amber glass lightshade.
Across town: I thought I had trimmed (slashed back) this severely overgrown Lemon Verbena almost to death
certainly everything growing from the left side of the trunk was dead
so I was very happy to see new leaves shooting on one of the remaining branches.
"no-one's" kangaroo paw is also going gang busters, I've never known one to survive this long in a pot.
On the way home:
Balance Home Services, who supply home aids to those who need help,
has some very clever
advertising images.

Lola has it pretty cushy, I'd say. ;-) She knows how to relax!
ReplyDeleteSome plants just want to live. Hmm, I thought Kangaroo Paws were yellow - no idea why. They don't grow here that I know. That's pretty!
How is your neighbor doing?
Sharon; Lola has made this her home for sure.
DeleteLemon verbenas are tough, but this one has been neglected, along with the rest of the garden for about 15 years. I planted it when I lived there, so I'm glad it will survive. Some kangaroo paws are yellow, the original 'outback' ones are red and green, the colours are new hybrids and don't survive as long most of the time.
Neighbour is doing well, possibly may come home this week, but there is a long list of things she is no longer allowed to do.
DeleteWhen I can balance on the back of an elephant, I'll cross the ocean and visit you. I left Toby's taller cat stand home and brought the one half as tall. I'm sorry now; he likes to be high. But, I'm afraid to try and get him used to scratching a new one, instead of furniture. We'll see. Lola is a pretty girl.
ReplyDeleteJoanne; I don't think Toby would have any trouble getting used to a new one, put it next to the old one for a while and he'll climb across.
DeleteLola is very pretty.
Love the Lola photos...such a pretty girl.
ReplyDeleteonly slightly confused; thank you. She doesn't like the camera much though.
DeleteYes, she is!!
ReplyDeletefishducky; thank you. I'll tell her when she wakes up.
DeleteLola is a lucky girl in her new home with you. And I agree with the rest, she is very pretty. Our girl cats love to drink from a dribbling tap also. Our boy cat (who is with our son now) prefers to stick his very fuzzy-tufty feet into his water and then lick his paws. I can't imagine why he would like that better than fresh water!
ReplyDeleteYour spring is springing, isn't it?
jenny_o; spring certainly is springing, it's hayfever time and I am suffering a bit, but less than I expected to.
DeleteI've never had a cat that drinks from a running tap before, but my daughter's cat, Missy, likes to go out when it's raining and catch the fresh water flowing from the gutter spout. My other cat, Angel (still missing) like to drink any water left on the shower floor.
Lovely Lola.
ReplyDeleteNo-one's kangaroo paws are gorgeous. I have never succeeded in keeping them going for more than one season so I have stopped trying.
Love those balancing images.
Elephant's Child; I am really surprised at the kangaroo paws. Her other one died and so did all of mine. Perhaps her pot is in just the right spot. I wish I had such excellent balancing skills. I'm not too bad, but not as sure as I used to be.
DeleteHi River....Lola looks like she's settling in beautifully. She's a lovely girl. Have yourself a great week and give the furry lady a cuddle for me. :)
ReplyDeleteLee; Lola has settled in so well, she thinks she is boss around here. But she does concede the bed is mine and gets off when I want to get in. Then she sneaks back later and warms my feet. I'd cuddle her, but she doesn't like being held. Yet.
DeleteIt's funny how cats ignore things they are not sure about. The advertising images for the aid business are amusing.
ReplyDeleteAndrew; it's their way of not getting trapped I suppose. I think the images are very clever, certainly they get the point across.
DeleteThat tower makes me wish I was a cat. Lola is a beauty. I like her white feet, though she seems to be hiding them in some photos.
ReplyDeleteVal; I often wish I was a cat too, what a life! Eat, sleep, climb and someone cleans your toilet every day and puts out food for you. I seem to always have cats with white feet.
DeleteHi human, River,
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, hi paws to Lola. Lola looks like an adorable cat. Cannot believe I said that.
There's a nice Balance to your pawst, my kind human friend.
Pawsitive wishes,
Penny 🐶
Penny the modest internet superstar! Lola is an adorable cat, we are still getting used to each other, but at least I know now when she is hungry and she is beginning to learn that food comes twice a day, with dry kibble all the time for snacking.
DeleteLook after your human, he's a good one.
My son and his wife has a kitty tower like yours.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
peppylady (Dora) it's a popular style with good height and several sleeping platforms plus the little cave and five scratching posts.
DeleteWhere did the cat tower originate from, River? Before I saw this today I was thinking of getting a new one, we have a couple that are getting on in years. I saw some nice ones online today.
ReplyDeleteWe just moved one of ours, I have a post about it tomorrow. :) Lola is not alone in the running water thing, mine love that too. But I also discovered one of the reasons why they like taps, after we changed water containers - my Grumpy likes to have a large container which does not touch her whiskers when she is drinking. A tap means untouched and not annoyed - or even worse, dunked in the water! - whiskers. :)
Love the cat tower and loved all of your photographs of Lola, she seems very happy and contented.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week ahead.
All the best Jan
Lola has stepped right up and become a great housemate hasn't she :) I am happy to see this.
ReplyDeleteI have missed out on updates on Angel. I am guessing you are leaving her tower outside in case she returns home. Happy to see Lola happy with you. Did the horrible neighbor move away?
