Sunday Selections # 630

Long ago, Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if overseas bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.

Going back to 2011, before I moved here:

a giant dragonfly about 30cm, made of wire and gauze on the shadecloth over my "fruit forest"

the ghoul and several bats hanging in the carport for Halloween

and back to 2023 now:

my smallest saucepan developed this rainbow sheen after I reheated some vegetable soup

The dough is rising nicely, I added some fine dried garlic granules for extra flavour, (and the picture has somehow moved itself out of centre)

the toppings are prepared, sauce, olives, capsicum (bell pepper), garlic, pineapple, tomatoes and a little dried oregano and parsley

mmmm, cheese

and the finished product, a little too browned on one edge, but that's my oven. I hate electric cooking.

Lola taking advantage of the autumn sunshine on the windowsill last Friday

I raised the awning to let more light in now the heat is lessened and discovered the wasps are back and have made quite a large nest with some hexagons already filled with eggs. There are plenty of wasps hanging around it, so I can't destroy it, I'll have to wait until the hatching is over and be more observant after that. This is right beside the window.

someone's porch has an "alien portal" 😵

the twins are ready to go shopping with me and their mum

here is Ana enjoying her spaghetti bolognese lunch while watching the Teletubbies

and Gen, also enjoying lunch, but very excited by the Teletubbies. Both girls love them and their faces are a joy to see. Can you see the sparkle in Gen's eyes? She was "talking" to the Teletubbies.

  1. That pizza looks GOOD. I wonder what caused the sheen on the saucepan.
I can't get over how fast the twins are growing - and how happy they are.

    1. Elephant's Child; the pizza was so good! I've had that sheen appear on several things over time and it doesn't affect the cooking at all. The twins are growing fast and are always happy.

  2. The twins are so cute, esp. with spaghetti sauce! Our gr-daughter was about this age, and I swore that she had to be hosed clean after eating. The dragon fly photo Is super.

    1. Susa Kane; laughing at the "hosed clean", I'm sure that will happen soon when the twins begin feeding themselves with the little spoons I bought them. I wish I'd brought that dragonfly with me when I moved.

  3. Homemade pizza is the very best, and also what we had for dinner tonight (Saturday). My, how the twins have grown!

    1. Charltte; Homemade pizza doesn't always happen here, but since I learned how to make the dough, it's edging out the frozen variety more often. The twins are getting tall now.

  4. I am impressed you made your own pizza dough and the end result looks delicious. It was sensible for the girls to eat after they had been to the shops.

    1. Andrew; the pizza dough is so easy! and much tastier with the addition of dried garlic granules. And after the shops, a nice long nap, which is when I came home.

  5. It took me forever to be able to post a comment!!! Grrrrr!!

I like...love...pizzas...but never with pineapple on them. Once upon a time I made my own from scratch. I even, for a while, worked a second job at night in a little pizza place up at Yorkeys Knob, a Cairns northern beaches suburb. These days I buy frozen pizzas, either whole or the two slices packs, and add my extra chosen toppings. I'm a cop-out, I know...taking the easy way out. :)

The babies were having a ball by the looks of it. And I hope you, River, have a ball in the coming week ahead...and I hope you have a very enjoyable Easter weekend, loaded up with heaps of chocolate! Take care...cuddles to the lovely Lady Lola, who is looking lovely! :)

    1. Lee; I can eat pizza without pineapple and often do, but it's never quite the same without it. it also depends on the toppings, pepperoni doesn't go well with pineapple, and mushrooms are better without too. I still keep a shop-bought frozen pizza in the freezer for when I'm in a hurry. I'm trying to lay off the chocolate a bit, so I'll have just one bunny this year and the twins will have to wait until next year when they are older. Cuddles to Shama too.

  8. That dragonfly! I was in a CAT (bus in Perth) and something moved hectical behind me. A big dragonfly ! Luckily not that big! ;-)
Love your Halloween-deco and that pan... did you make a wish?
You Pizza looks... perfect. So yummy!
    And Lola... awwwww.
The wasps... oy. Perfect architects, but it would scare me.
Does your portal deliver Pizza? Very cool reflection indeed!
Wow, can one still say "Babies" or already "kids"? They grow up so fast!
Happy Sunday to you (here all grey and only 3C!)

    1. Iris; I'd forgotten about that dragonfly until I saw the picture now I wish I had brought it with me. I did not make a wish, it isn't a real rainbow. The wasps don't scare me but I wish they would go somewhere else. That portal is at "no-one's" house. The twins are still babies, not even 1 year old yet. Sunny here and about 20C.

  9. That looks a good looking pizza and a large dragonfly also. Always nice looking back on photos taken awhile back.
    The babies are doing well.

    1. Margaret D; the pizza was delicious. The dragonfly is made of wire and gauze fabric, same as they make fairy wings for children. The babies are doing very well.

  10. What a lovely selection of photographs. They bring back memories as well as create them, in the form of those adorable little girls.

  11. I don't love a wasp, but it's probably good for the environment that you're just letting them do their thing.

    1. Steve Reed; these are native wasps so not as dangerous as the European wasps, and they are far enough away from doors that they won't get disturbed enough by people to attack and sting. Once the nest is abandoned I will destroy it next season do the brown paper bag trick to dissuade them.
