Musical Monday # 72
Musical Monday
I was introduced to
Musical Monday by Delores who copied the meme from another site.
I think it’s a fun way
to show off some of the music we like and brighten up our Mondays at the same
time.
I’ll be finding my clips
on you tube, so will simply credit that site since there are often so many
versions of everything and I wouldn’t want to accidentally credit the wrong
artist.
Today’s clip is: Los Del Rio
Macarena
Does anyone else remember when this swept Australia? (I hope it plays)
I remember here in Adelaide, a radio station held a Macarena contest and school kids all over town skipped school to gather at the appointed spot and dance to the song. My son J went too and said it was a great afternoon
It wasn't just Australia--it took over the US, too!!
ReplyDeleteI remember it, but it never did much for me...I probably have seen/heard it more from the replays of Peter Costello attempting to do the dance on TV with KAK than listening to it on the radio.
ReplyDeleteI can understand that it would be a fun melody and dance for kids to enjoy and have a bit of fun with. :)
Yet another thing which escaped me. Sometimes I wonder where I have been when these things came to prominence. Under a rock somewhere?
ReplyDeleteA good fun dancing song at a party, but that is the limit.
ReplyDeletefishducky; I didn't know that. Kids all skipped school for the dance-offs there too?
ReplyDeleteLee; didn't do much for me either, it was fun to listen to while it lasted.
Elephant's Child; probably draped over a rock planting or weeding. It was a fleeting five minute fun thing, it came, it went.
Andrew; yes, for parties, but only for a while. I don't think anyone would have it on their party playlist anymore.
Yep, I remember this song, too!
ReplyDeleteOh yes! Remember that one, Expert is jigging his leg as it plays :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I watched that vid last week! It's funny, if parents understood the lyrics they most certainly wouldn't want their kids listening to it, lol.
ReplyDeleteI only had to read the title and the earworm hit with a blast.
ReplyDeleteI preferred the Lambada.
Happy Elf; it's one that's easily forgotten, but instantly remembered when mentioned.
ReplyDeleteMargaret-whiteangel; it's a toe-tapper.
Jacquelineand...yet kids probably knew all the lyrics before their parents did.
JahTeh; sorry about the earworm :( I don't know the Lambada.
I have danced to this a while back now.
