important - another scam - this one looks real, but isn't

No-one has posted another warning about a new scam doing the rounds. This one is "from" Telstra and pops up in your email inbox looking oh-so-legitimate, but please be careful and check everything twice, three times even, before opening unsolicited emails.

  1. They used to be very easy to pick up, but I've received some very convincing scam emails of late.

    1. I remember getting the AGL one before I heard it was a scam, but since I'm not with AGL, I deleted it without even looking at it. Now I'm glad I did.
You're right, the scammers are getting very clever.

  3. I don't get them often, but I have learned to spot them quickly - I never click on a link in an email and rarely in a new person's blog - paranoid, I know, but I'd hate to lose my computer.

  5. Sigh. They are indeed getting clever - which says that there is a lot of money in what they do.

    1. Merle; it's getting harder to know who to trust. Just be careful and double check everything.

  7. So far so good. I just delete anything that seems wrong. Also mark them as junk so if anything similar comes through it is clearly marked.
Heard the other day of a chap losing money after his bank account was used by someone in Nigeria. I am never sure of how safe 'secure' websites are. I guess you just have to hope for the best in some cases.
