Sunday Selections # 679

Long ago, Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.

Elephant's Child is still taking a break.

Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.

I have only one calendar this year and I have been forgetting to show you the pictures so let's begin with :

January

February

and March

this is how much a cheeseburger costs in Australia, how much is a cheeseburger where you live?

Ant Party at Iris's holiday cabin this summer (she had an infestation twice!) enlarging the picture will help.

there have been some pretty skies here lately

these are from last month, this month there is barely a hint of a cloud anywhere, we're in a heatwave 40C days (104F) and 26C nights (78.8F)

this is what my fridge looks like now, it has a new addition

an Egyptian magnet! Thank You Elephant's Child

that seemingly empty space near the top right is covered in tiny glow-in-the-dark stars

I found Jordan declaring herself "Queen of the castle, oops, Pirate Ship!"

and Riley having a conversation with the skeleton.

the girls are having fun practising

being cute little Easter Bunnies

and playing with the bubble machine in their new hats

  1. Love the fridge magnets and the calendar.

    Cheeseburger price, from the Internet:-
    Cheeseburger £1.49
    Triple Cheeseburger £3.39
    Bacon Double Cheeseburger £3.19

It sounds really uncomfortably hot where you are.

    1. jabblog; I'll have to convert the pounds to dollars to see the difference. It is uncomfortable for me, though you think I'd be used to it. Some people really love these temperatures and when I was a child I barely noticed the heat.

  2. You do love your "Day of the Dead" art!

I'm not sure how the currency compares, but according to an online menu, McDonald's cheeseburgers are £1.49 in the UK. (I wonder if this is true in ALL areas of the UK, like London, where I am?) McDonald's cheeseburgers are tiny, though, so personally I'd opt for a quarter-pounder with cheese, which is £4.89.

Cheeseburgers at our neighborhood joint are £10.50, but they're MUCH better than McDonald's!

    1. Steve Reed; I really do love the Sugar Skulls art, it's so colourful. I find a cheeseburger just the right size, along with a few fries to fill in the corners, but I rarely have fast foods these days. I think that's my first cheeseburger in three years. 10.50 seems a reasonable price for something so much better than McDonald's. I don't have a pound symbol that I can easily find.

  3. We do not go to McDonalds- our cheeseburgers are delish and fresh , served with fries or salad. Usually around 16 dollars. A burger is not always a burger.
    Loving the little girls! Adorables!

    1. Linda Sue; I almost never go to McDonald's, maybe this recent trip will be my very last. I prefer fish'n'chips anyway, from the kiosk on the foreshore at Semaphore Beach.
Aren't those girls just so adorable! And they hugged me the last time I visited! Proper hugs with two arms wrapped around me and heads on my chest.

  4. I am not surprised Steve's focus is size, but McDonalds is different around the world. Japanese McDonalds had food close to what we might call a gourmet burgers but I can't remember the price now and it was over twelve years ago since we were there. I can't remember McDonalds in London being so different to here.

    1. Andrew; a lot of men prefer a larger meal, and some women too, but I find the cheeseburger a decent enough size, it is slightly bigger than the palm of my hand. I don't think I'll have another though, if I'm buying precooked I prefer the fish'n'chips at Semaphore Beach. Perhaps I should try the fish'n'chips at all beaches for comparison.

  5. My 2024 calendar features beautiful, cuddly cats...so many lovely photos of the beautiful animals.

I hope the heat has left down your way, River, and that the coming week is much kinder. Take good care...my cuddles to lovely Lady Lola.

    1. Lee; I had a calendar in 2017 with Maine Coon cats and kittens, I loved it. It was like having Angel still with me.
The heat is still hanging around for a few days yet. Lola doesn't seem to mind, she sleeps the days away in the back porch.

  6. Iris having a holiday cabin is a great idea.. to sleep a small family in comfort. It needs a decent kitchen, a collapsible table and a tv-lounge room. The shower and toilet area merely have to be functional, not elegant.

    1. Hels; it is part of a whole "caravan park" complex and she just manages to get (rent) the same cabin each time. There are only two, Iris and her husband, so no need for a lot of space, just somewhere to shower and sleep.

  7. Ana and Gen are priceless. Love the bunny glasses/ears.

  8. Green, green grass, wow, long time since I've seen 'green grass'.
Different kind of calendar there you have R.
Love the little ones glasses :)
Don't know how much a cheese burger is here but probably or a few cents different from yours.
Keep cool, we are in a heat wave and it's been 31 deg today, that's warm for us.

    1. Margaret D; that grass is their back lawn, the front is the same, they get regular watering and mowing. I buy my calendars online each year since I can rarely find what I want at newsagaents. The girls are cute aren't they?
It's closer to 40 here today and expected to be the same tomorrow, nights are hot too. Every summer I thank my brother for my airconditioner.

  9. LOL, we´re on the same page (March today!).
Hm. A hamburger. The last one (and that is literally!!! It was awful here in Germany) was €14, which is - not looking at today´s worth - AU$ 28.
That was at a Burger place (restaurant).
    Maccas... A cheeseburger is €2,29, as in AUS$ 4,60.
I think a good one at Herman´s was around €10, so for you 20 bucks.
I cannot believe we only went to Grill´d 4 times!!!! I blame on the weather. Who eats a burger in 43C ;-)
LOL on the poor ants Ingo killed... It was but a party! ;-) An annoying one, though!
We have 2C atm. Two. Cold!
Oh, lucky you!!! Our fridge door is non-magnetic!
Nice one (though bad memories as I traveled there with a man who is an ex for a reason).
I could not resist Freo and a roo, no idea where to put them (#kookaburra!!!)
Oh, we have a pirate ship and a skeleton (called Henry) in our bedroom, greetings to Jordan & Riley!!!
To cute Easter bunnies, heck, time runs!
    To a great Sunday!

    1. Iris; I would have killed those ants too, they belong outside, not inside in my opinion. I know who eats burgers in the heat, teenage boys! They'll eat burgers at any temperature! Grill'd sounds like a great place, but it's good you ate at other places too.
What is your fridge door made from if not metal? I have never known a fridge that isn't metal. Years ago when I was four I remember we had an ice-box that was wooden with a big lid on top to open and put in the giant block of ice. Then we got a proper fridge.
I would like to see your pirate ship and skeleton.

    2. Ingo removed the wood-cover and tadaa.... metal and ALL magnets are on!!!!
Youu can see our bedroom here :-)

    3. Hooray for fridge magnets! You'll have to post a photo. I think your pirate ships are better than mine, yours are wood models and mine is a plastic kids toy. I love your skelton.

    1. Sami; thank you. I have a couple of magnets from the aquarium near Hillary's, I must have spent an hour wandering around in there.

  11. Bubbles are a neverending source of fun here too.
I love your summer pictures, I like hot, but 40 degrees might be a bit much even for me. And oh, I love your fridge, ours is plain boring in comparison!
A cheeseburger in the cheapest - and incidentally best - place in town would cost me the equivalent of 13.65 Australian dollars, and large fries around 10 - we do not eat out much. At McD it would be 3.30 but you'd have to add bud fare x2 as it's quite far, plus they're NOT tasty.

    1. Charlotte; I'm a big fan of bubbles and I'm glad to see the girls love them too. 40 degrees is too much for me too, though I never noticed it when I was a child, probably because I was always in the water at the beach. I agree MacDonald's burgers are not tasty and I won't buy one ever again. You'll have to decorate your fridge :)

  12. Your fridge gave me a fright when I saw DENTIST written there! The girls are precious in their bunny glasses, and must LOVE playing with the bubbles. I can get a cheeseburger and small fries for a total of $5 off the Dairy Queen 2-for-$5 menu. It costs me $5.47 when tax is included. It's a good burger, but I usually substitute the three soft pretzel sticks with queso dipping sauce for the fries.

    1. Val; the only thing that frightens me abut the dentist is the cost. I love the girls bunny glasses, their mum bought them. We don't have Dairy Queen here and I probably won't ever buy another MacDonald's burger. The only flavour in those is the dill pickle.

  13. I haven't been to McDonald's in so long I have no clue how much a cheeseburger would cost, and online is no help they want you to place an order at your local restaurant before they'll tell you how much it costs! If both are $3US, it would be about 9 Australian dollars, so close.

Your fridge front is quite fascinating, I keep mine blank now because I no longer have notices about the kid's events and programs all over it.

It's good to see a bit of what the doll girls and Jordan are up to.

Your granddaughters are precious, I really like the hats.

    1. messymimi; you're not missing a thing by not going to MacDonald's, you can probably get much better nurgers elsewhere. I like my fridge front, the rest of the kitchen doesn't have a lot of colour, except the corner with the coffee mugs hanging on it. I like the girls hats too and I'm really happy they like to wear hats to keep the sun off their faces.
