Sunday Selections # 694

Long ago, Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.

Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.

Hooray, the linking problem is fixed! Thank you Blogger.

Beginning today with an old favourite found in Woolies:

Jaffa Cakes!! I haven't seen these since Arnott's stopped making them years ago.

the description

the "jingle"

made in the UK, which is fine with me, I love these little biscuits (cookies)

this is my 4TB (terabyte) hard drive, I have two of them,

this one holds folders of TV series that I like to watch, from A to Y, I'm currently working my way through Supernatural. The other 4TB holds movies. Many, many movies, so handy when TV shows nothing but sports and reality shows.

this is one of many usb's (thumb drives, flash drives, whatever you prefer to call them) which I load up from the hard drive.

this particular type swivels to expose the bit that gets plugged in, I have several different styles of usb's

this is the "Hub" that plugs into the TV and holds four usb's at a time, or I can plug in the big hard drive and select from that what to watch, although it does take longer to go through that menu.

At the twins house:

the girls are learning the joys of paint, this is Ana, or maybe it is Gen,

this is the other one

they tend to use both hands when painting

though they are mostly left handed for other things

Daddy helps and does a bit of painting himself

the finished paintings on the fridge.

  1. The delicious Jaffa cakes may be made in the UK, but the oranges came from Jaffa in Israel. I can still remember the delicious taste in the lunch box taken to school!

  2. I don't think I have ever seen Jaffa cakes. I will have to look. Himself would love them.
The twins are certainly engrossed in their painting - which is lovely.

  3. I've never heard of Jaffa cakes!
    What an adorable pair!

  4. Where do you back up your computer?
I've never seen one of those USB hubs. Very impressive.
For a while I could tell our girl twins apart as one had her hair cut short. But hair grows back.
Ray used to like McVitie's biscuits.

  5. Mmm...those cookies look delicious! I don't think we have anything like that, with the orange bit. It's good to see that you are well-prepared with shows to watch! The girls are making good use of all the colors! That's an artistic refrigerator.

  6. Wow! The beautiful little ladies are growing so fast! :)

I'm presently bingeing on "The Good Wife", having watched it way back when it firs hit our TV screens. I'm enjoying it second time around. Over the past couple of months I've done "Damages", "Revenge" and "The Resident", too. I've got quite a few of my favourite movies on my recorded list so I can watch them again at will.

I love Tim Tams, and have a couple of packets of the dark choc ones here waiting for me to attack them!

Take care...stay warm..have a good week ahead...my cuddle to lovely Lady Lola. :)

  7. The first picture is Ana, the second Gen. I think. Engrossed little painters!

  8. hels; I did not know that about the oranges, thank you.

Elephant's Child; they are only in Woolies and are usually $3 unless they are on special for $1.50, and there are only ten biscuits per box. The girls really love painting.

Jenn Jilks; you might be able to find Jaffa Cakes online? The girls are adorable and more so every time I see them.

Andrew; I have a 1TB hard drive where I back up the computer, I looked at it yesterday and saw I hadn't backed up for over a year, I have a sticker on it where I write the dates of back ups. Jaffa Cakes are available in Woolies, look for them and buy a box, you might like them. The orange bit is nicely tangy.
my twins have slightly different hair too, Gen's is a wee bit longer and thicker, though I can't always have them standing still long enough to see that.
The usb hubs are available at places like JBHifi or Officeworks. Look around at the back of your TV for where to plug one in and once you do it takes a while to "read" each usb before you can play.

Val; they are delicious, but also on the small side, gone in two bites! Sometimes I have too much choice and can't decide what to watch, so Iread a book instead :)
The girls love painting. In summer I will introduce them to house painting brushes 4 inches wide and a bucket of water so they can "paint" the house and fence.

Lee; they are growing fast, not much of the baby left in them now. I don't have any of those shows you mention and I don't think I'll add to what I've got just yet, I only have the TV on for a few hours after the news at 6pm so I wouldn't have time to watch everything unless I live to be 120. I don't like Tim Tams at all, I find them far too sweet.

Joanne; It's really hard to tell which is which when their painting smocks cover their clothes. They love painting.

  9. Paintings are precious. Beautiful little ones.
What a good idea of yours with the external HD's and the hub to your TV. My TV has only two USB ports and a hub would be a good idea...thanks.

  10. Margaret D; thank you, the painting and the girls are precious. "no-one" put me onto the hub and hard drives idea, she has a couple herself.

  11. The soft cookies look delicious.
The distributor idea sounds good to me!
It's great that the twins are creating art from now on!!
    Have a beautiful Sunday!

  12. Woah, we have those cookies, too, with the orange-filling. Different name, though. I liked them as a kid - must look if they are still around.
I think I was an "inside excavator" ;-)

My extra hard drives Ingo built in (I have an "old fashioned" PC).
Hehe, well I have DVDs, and, like you: Nothing on TV I have enough! Ingo just grabbed Quantum Leap (and watches in German!!!)
Who watches reality shows?? They make me cringe in the announcement already.
Me: Season 2 of Sleepy Hollow now. Ingo gave it a go but doesn´t like it (???? How???).
I have such a hub for my Aussie Lenovo (Great Granpa), but I watch on my PC.

Wow, you are very organised. My DVDs fly everywhere and eat up space.
Ingo got a new PC - struggled hard cause DVDs are not the standard anymore. I must, in the long run, follow you! Where/how do you get the movies/series (dumbest question on your blog, I suppose, but Germany lives behind a rock)?

"The other one" - LOL. Cool art!

  13. Apparently, rats are very attracted to Jaffa cakes, so they are 'a good thing' to put in rat traps. I can't quite remember how it's supposed to work . . .
Love the finished paintings - they would look wonderful mounted and framed.

  14. The twins are too precious. Watching them grow is a treat.

  15. Jaffa cakes sounds like a thing I have to look out for. Thanks for the tips, as I'm always looking for things to put into lunckh boxes.
The twins are funny and cute to look at in their paint protective gear, but the paintings are good!

  16. I'm glad your favorite biscuit is back on the market. It happened here with "Twinkies," the company went out of business and it took a couple of years for a new business to buy the rights to make them.

Those girls are precious, I'm glad they enjoy their painting sessions.

  17. Katerinas Blog; the cookies are delicious, the orange filling is niecly tangy. The girls love the painting, they can already name all the colours.

Iris; look online to see where you can find the cookies close to you?
I would love to have a desktop PC with a bigger screen to watch things on, but there is only room here for my small laptop, and I can watch on it, but can't split the screen, that hurts my eyes. Everything is too small on it anyway now that I am used to the big TV.
Get a shelf for your DVDs or maybe a case with pockets and a zip to keep the dust out, but then you have to take them out of the covers. I bought my DVD shelves from Ikea. I get most movies and series from a store here called JBhifi, I think they are in Perth too and other cities and some I buy from ebay. The ones on the hard drives are from "no-one", she downloads them for herself and copies to my hard drive. Sometimes they don't play so well, like right now I am "stuck" in Supernatural and have to get another copy. but most are okay.
Laptops these days don't have CD/DVD drawers because most people download instead, but you can buy an external DVD player and it plugs into your laptop with a usb cable. I have one and mostly use it to play music CDs, but I have watched a DVD with it a few times.

jabblog; rats are attracted to jaffa cakes?? I'd better hurry and eat mine then :) The paintings are too large to frame I think, but I might suggest to J that he put them in one of those "art" folders, he used to have one for his own drawings in high school.

Granny Annie; I am loving watching the twins grow and wish I'd paid more attention when my own kids were babies.

Charlotte; I hope you find some jaffa cakes. The twins get excited when they see the paint smocks being brought out, they love playing with the colours and different brushes and sponges. They already name all the colours and most shapes too.

messymimi; I stock up on the biscuits when they are half price but still they don't last long. I hope they will be in the shop for a few years at least. The girls love mixing the colours once they have used them all a couple of times. I am going to show them how to make a line of blobs then draw a brush or roller through them for a different effect.
