Sunday Selections # 692

Long ago, Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if other bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child null and I join in as do a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look. Wisewebwoman has also been joining us occasionally.

Beginning with the twins:

from this, Gen weighing five pounds, Ana weighing four pounds

to this, not so well, but getting better after a gastric bug rampaged through the household

in no time at all, Genevieve with Bingo and Anastasia with Bluey, from the TV show.

the day after, they were well enough to enjoy mini cakes and strawberries on their own kid size table and chairs

"no-one" bought me a tiny rhubarb plant which is now in a pot in the garden, I hope it thrives, I really like rhubarb

on a windy day I left the doors open for the breeze

and it tinkled every chime in the house

even this heavier one

the day before delivery of my new washing machine I moved all the bookshelves

out of the narrow entry to make enough room

I was shocked to see how many dead bugs and cobwebs with empty spider eggs had accumulated in the ten years the shelves had been there, plus one live spider which I squished right away.

I cleaned it as best I could

then this arrived the next day, a Westinghouse Easycare 500 (and I had to push all those bookshelves back into place.)

with a simple dial to choose the program and touchpads to choose water temperature and spin speeds

here it is n place with the dryer stacked back on top. It works well, but I am going to miss the Asko forever.

what a terrible thing to do to a tree, I saw two of these in the same garden on my way to the shops.

and further down the street the pretty gingko tree has turned golden

and is dropping a pretty carpet on the footpath

finishing with Lola who has the best life with not a care in the world.

  1. The gingko tree looks wonderful, and even the fallen leaves on the ground look attractive. Can the owner sweep all the fallen leaves onto the garden as mulch?

    1. hels; the owner probably can but I've never seen it happen, they stay there until wind and weather take them away.

  3. For some reason your posts are no longer appearing in my reading list. Another blogger glitch I suppose. And I wonder how many other people's posts I am missing.
A delightful selection and I am glad that the twins are recovering fast.

    1. Elephant's Child; this is why I don't have a reading list. Every blog I follow is listed under the "favourites" star in the task bar. Thank you, I am also glad the twins are recovering as is the rest of the household.

    2. I follow too many blogs for that to be a workable option for me.

  4. Like two beautiful roses the twins are blossoming..a delight to witness.

I'm with Lola.she has the right idea! :)

Take good care...have an enjoyable week ahead, River...give my cuddles to lovely Lady Lola....when she stirs. :)

    1. Lee; thank you, I like the beautiful roses analogy. I confess I sometimes get right down there with Lola for a quick warmup.

  5. I would be right there in front of the heater with Lola! Congrats on your new washing machine. The twins are always a welcome sight. They are thriving, despite an occasional bug.

    1. Val; sometimes I am down there with Lola who doesn't appreciate me taking her spot and moves away until I leave. I'll get used to the new machine, but will always miss the Asko. The twins are thriving and growing so fast now, a blink of an eye and they'll be in school!

  6. Wee, they were tiny, your girls!!! And now... time runs.
What do you do with rhubarb? I tried it once - it was sour. Maybe Ingo did it wrong?
OH! I.. no, my big chime is too loud to go on the balcony... Only when I am there to stop it in time - but I have a small one Ingo activates when coming into the room, I love :-)

Eww. OK, know what to expect moving furniture!
I would say: To kindle... but I have way too many books I would not give away, but move, too!
Yep, our Miele is like your new one, too. Heck, we want clothes to be cleaned, nothing more, right?
Back in Rhüden Ingo had your system, too, with a dryer on top.
    Now I am the dryer...
To your Asko!!! Now I miss our old Miele microwave, too...

Eww... Autumn you have for sure now. I´d like to feel like Lola... instead we´ll go voting for... for what?
Either way, to a happy Sunday.

    1. Iris; here we say time flies and it surely does when babies are growing up. Rhubarb is"tart" not quite sour but not sweet either. It needs to be cooked with a lot of sugar and I also cook apples in the same pot. So I have stewed apple rhubarb mix which I can eat on its own, or put with vanilla ice cream, or make sweet pie for desserts.
I used to have a BIG chime in my previous home, it hung in the carport and sounded lovely, almost like church bells, but I had to tie it up when the wind was stormy. The ex thought the sound would annoy the neighbours so he had it tied up almost all the time and one day he ripped it down and threw it under a cupboard. I cried.
The best part about the Asko was the silence, I hardly knew it was running and the spin cycle was so long the clothes came out almost dry enough to wear.
We have winter now, cloudy skies with plenty of blue still and maybe three drops of rain. So I still have to water the garden.

  7. The twins have sure grown as one would expect..they are looking great after their bug.
Your washing machine does look lovely, hope it lasts a long time - washing.
Lola, well that is a good place to be, my old departed cat used to lay by the heater and often singed himself. I've got one windchime outside.

    1. Margaret D; if I get ten years from the new washing machine I'll be happy. Things aren't made to last these days.
The girls are laughing and playing again so I'd say they are completely well again now.
I had some of my chimes outside, but brought them all in years ago after some things got stolen. Probably it is safe to put them back out by why take that chance? I like them inside anyway.

  8. The twins were very small and as time goes by they are growing beautifully. I think the rhubarb will grow well!
Gingko Biloba leaves turn an incredibly beautiful yellow and make an amazing tea!
    Have a beautiful Sunday !

    1. Katerina's Blog; the twins were born early but they certainly grew well since then. I have hope for the rhubarb.

    1. Andrew; I get excited by new white goods when I can afford the particular brands I want. Anything else is just a machine that does the job expected of it.
All that heating is not just for Lola, I live here too!

  10. Love those sweet girlies updates, they are thriving! I was appalled at the attempted massacre of the tree. Can't imagine doing that. I never kill spiders, old Irish thing of streams of bad luck following. Plus they feed on flies, etc. And are beautiful in their webbery.

    1. WWW; I don't get as many photo updates as I used to with the girls, I'll have to get out there again soon and take some photos of my own. That tree is "trimmed" like that every year, when it grows back (they, there are two) I will take photos. I kill redback spiders if I find them inside and the one I squished behind the bookshelves was one, but I don't see many spiders inside anymore, they tend to stay out in the gardens. I haven't seen a fly inside for many years.

    1. jabblog; i was reading the instruction manual and thinking I should find someone with a university degree to translate, but then flipped a page and it said "Daily Use Step 1, step 2 , step 3, so I followed that and now I'm okay with it. The one "fault" is the spin cycle isn't long enough. I was spoiled by the Asko where the final spin was nine minutes and the clothes came out almost dry enough to wear. The trade off is a saving in electricity I suppose.

  12. I always enjoy the variety and fun things in your selections. Having so many wind chimes, I'm glad you got to enjoy them on a pretty day.

Those girls are precious. I'm so glad their parents let you post photos here.

    1. messymimi; I'd like to put the chimes back outside but worry they will get stolen or maybe annoy the neighbours with their sound. Or they will get weather damage.
The girls are very precious. the great grandson too, though I am not allowed to post photos of him, he is 15 months old now and quite a character!
