Sunday Selections # 579
Long ago, Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.
A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.
Nothing rude or vulgar though.
And we don't mind at all if overseas bloggers care to join us.
The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to them and have a look.
Let's begin with a sunbeam,
which sneaked in through the front door to highlight my TV chair
and also highlighted the dust on this chest of drawers
I have a flag flying on my front door, it is postcard sized,
but can't be seen from the outside through the screen of the security door.
I have this little one on my mailbox
I finally got the bird poop cleaned off my mushroom/toadstool, the fruit is gone from the trees above so the birds have left too.
this odd shaped lump of upside down concrete is painted dark green, the other side is sort of flower shaped and will be painted to look like a sunflower, I hope.
I bought packets of dwarf sunflower seeds to plant in the Spring.
I have sunflowers in a jug pictured on one of my plastic trays too, I never really noticed them before this awful war began.
the redheads, the gnomes and the fairies still light the candles for a few minutes each day
remember the lady with the cat on her shoulder? Here she is with her arm all mended,
and the boy/girl statue as mended as it is going to get. There are parts missing that can't be replaced, but I think it looks okay.
look how tall the bulbs are getting!
leaves are beginning to change colour
and are falling onto the plants below.
You have done wonders with your garden statues. I have always loved sunflowers and now love them more.
ReplyDeleteElephant's Child; I'm happy with the statues. Sunflowers are one of the plants my mum always had, wherever she lived she planted them along with a hedge of geraniums.
DeleteWhen will the horrors end? I don't know why there has to be so much hate...when will humans ever learn...never, I fear.
ReplyDeleteMay the golden glow of the sunflowers shine brightly across our world,...may the violence end once and for all. May peace reign throughout...
Have a good week ahead, River...cuddles to the lovely Lady Lola.
Lee; mostly I think humans are fine, it's just those few rotten apples spoiling the whole barrel. I hope my sunflowers grow next spring. I planted seeds about a year after I cleared the garden bed of grasses, but they never grew.
DeleteSunflowers and even yellow have certainly gained new meaning and respect lately. It is so hard to watch the horrors being inflicted on innocents.
ReplyDeleteLove that the statues found you so they can continue to please folks. Great job.
Arkansas Patti; yellow has always been a favourite colour of mine. it is hard to see and read about the massacres taking place, all we can do is hope it stops soon.
DeleteI'm happy with the statues and a couple of neighbours have said they like them.
I need a "support Ukraine" 'something' too.
ReplyDeleteMike; make one, like I did. Plant sunflowers in a bright blue and yellow pot.
DeleteNo visible dust floating in the sunbeam. Good cleaning.
ReplyDeleteGood job with the cat lady.
What are the bulbs coming up now? Is it the right time?
Andrew; who needs sunbeam dust when I have plenty sitting on the furniture?
DeleteI like the cat lady. The bulbs are the Caribbean lilies, but I think they're out of season and just showing me they survived. I'm hopeful of flowers though and they may eventually self-regulate to the proper times. I don't remember now when the leaves first started appearing in their original garden.
Your garden is lovely, and the little boy is perfect as he every will be.
ReplyDeleteJoanne; thank you. The boy is missing his entire left arm, which is why I angled the statue to hide that. I have it, but it is in many pieces and impossible to put back together, originally it was bent with the hand resting on the shoulder of the sitting girl.
DeleteAn excellent selection of photos. The boy looks like he might be holding his other arm behind him.
ReplyDeletemessymimi; that's what I was hoping people might think when I angled that statue.
DeleteI real like sunflower, they so bright and cheery.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Dora; I like sunflowers too and hope my seeds grow when I plant them in the spring.
DeleteLOL, I just got rid of dust the other day - and it keeps coming back (we have no carpets).
ReplyDeleteYay for the flags! Oh, I hope they fight back for good. And then... so much work.
Let us hope the world stays free, this part at least!
Gurri says hi to the stool! Mind you, it´s (supposed to be) Spring, yet... 3C - still Gurri-time!
Looking forward to your sunflowers! I think our balcony has not enough sunlight for them... I tried a couple of years ago with no success at all.
Your little folks are doing a good job, too. I really do believe that somehow the people in Ukraine get hope from knowing the world stands by their side, if "only" like this, by heart.
The statutes look good, too.
Ow. Autumn is on it´s way... Have a happy Sunday.
Iris Flavia; I have no carpets either, better for my asthma, but still we have dust. When I first moved here, I cleaned ALL the time, then it became a couple of times a week, once a week, now I don't care so much and clean only when I feel like it. I keep things tidied away, and the kitchen is clean, same as the bathroom, always clean and I make my bed every morning, so that room looks good too. I knew you would like my mushroom/toadstool, I don't use it to sit on, it's just for decoration.
DeleteI hope my sunflowers grow, I will plant the seeds in late September, in a bright blue pot.
Lovely photos. I like sunflowers - so cheerful.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Victor SE Moubarak; sunflowers now will always make me think of Ukraine.
DeleteNice photos, River. But I have to say I don't like sunflowers (too much like triffids) and I don't trust gnomes.
ReplyDelete:o)
Cheers
PM
Plasman; I remember you don't trust gnomes and I don't like triffids either, but I do like sunflowers.
DeleteI like how you followed the sunbeams with your pictures. Good to see the support Ukraine pictures. It is sickening how a group of ?? psychopaths can ruin so much of our world. All the best.
ReplyDeleteBill Lisleman; welcome to drifting. I like sunbeams, I get early morning ones sneaking into the closed in back porch and lighting up my painted cupboard there, then the late afternoon ones come in the front door as well as creeping across the lawn.
DeleteI hope Ukraine gets ALL the support it needs and wants.
The candle gathering looks like it would be a good opportunity for some story-telling.
ReplyDeleteVal; it does and maybe there were stories told while I wasn't watching or listening.
DeleteFabulous pictures. Love the sunbeam theme and your garden is lovely. There is worldwide support for Ukraine. Let's pray the conflict is over soon.
ReplyDeleteAMKT; thank you, I also hope the conflict is over soon.
DeleteSunbeamsarealways welcome even if they show us the negligent dusting. I love your toadstool, andthe little redheads and theirt compagny seem to have a good timewiththeir candles.
ReplyDeleteAnd sorry for missing spaces, my new keyboard is already worn ;)
DeleteCharlotte; I can read through the missing spaces, no problem there. The redheads like the warm glow from the candles, they say it is almost as good as a campfire.
DeleteI'm always shocked by how much dust shows up when the sun shines! I love that mushroom/toadstool and you did a great job mending the statues. I fear the war in Ukraine is going to go on for some time yet and it just seems so unnecessary and sad. One man's ego drove the whole thing. I hope he pays dearly.
