According to the 6pm news

South Australia was the hottest place in the world today, with town in the northern part of the state reaching 49C, that's 120F for you Northern Hemisphere people, and a bit higher for Oak Valley but they didn't say what that higher temperature was.
I'm glad I don't live up there anymore, it's a bit cooler down here in the southern part of the state, we have the beaches which probably helps a bit.

  1. Awful. Awful, awful, awful. We will hit 40 and above for the next three days and that is bad enough (as was todays 39.5).

  2. Cooler weather is coming, but it will be temporary. We are expecting 29 and 26 on Thursday and Friday, that will be very welcome, but then it starts to rise into the 30s again. I'm very glad for these intermittent cool days.

  3. Sure sounds hot, we never reach record temperatures here (Our all time high was 36.4C in 1975)! And it beats my 2C with several lengths. Could we share a bit - You get some of my cold and windy with drizzle, and I get some of your hot and sunshine - Deal?

  4. Been thinking of you and the heat, but I know you have air con at home. EC will have a hard time of it tomorrow.

    1. Andrew; yes I do have aircon at home. If only I could stay home. but there are things that must be done, so I'm standing around at hot bus stops waiting to go places that don't have aircon :(

  5. We have -10°C and a lot of snow here. We ought to get together and try and blend the two weather systems so we can both have something pleasant.

I have to say that I really don't miss the hot Adelaide summers.

    1. Marie; welcome to drifting. a blend would be nice. I don't remember ever hearing anyone say they miss the Adelaide summers.

    1. Val; I'm fine as long as I'm home, the airconditioner keeps the lounge room at a comfortable 22C (71.6F), but there's things that need to be done away from home that just won't wait for a cooler day.

    1. joeh; set your oven to 100 and sit there real close breathing in that heat, and pretend you can't get away from it.

  12. I read that and thought of you. I cannot imagine surviving in that heat.

    1. Joanne; we hate it, but most of us are used to it and just tough it out with the help of airconditioning. Some people just have fans, like several of my family members. Their work places have airconditioning though and so do our buses and trains.

    1. fishducky; I like it cool too, but 13C is too cool, although EC would love it. My favourite is 20C (68F) to about 25C (77F)

  18. jabblog; I do wish the cooler days would stay a bit longer, but at least it's a dry heat so far, so no humidity, although it might be a bit muggy today as I see a blanket of clouds through my window.

  19. Hi River,

Your extreme heat weather has been making the news over here in the UK. A nice sea breeze most certainly helps.

Those temperatures you note remind me of the sort of temperatures they get in the Okanagan, which is in British, Columbia, Canada.

Stay cool, as best you can.

    Gary
