Ugh!

Thursday 24th, here in Adelaide South Australia is predicted to be 44C, (that's 111.2F) up from the original prediction of 42C, (107.6F)

We've had no rain since December 19th 2018

Thank heavens (and my brother) for airconditioning.
I'll be spending the day inside.

My garden is suffering as my hose connection, the part that sprinkles, has broken and I haven't yet bought a new one. Any water that comes out of the cold taps now is boiling hot for about a minute before the cool water flows.

  1. We have two days of 40 to come, thankfully not 44. Once you have air con, it is hard to imagine living without it. It should be quite effective in your smaller place. If it is costing a lot, apply to Social Security for some help.

    1. Andrew; it isn't costing too much, the winter heating bill is far higher. Being of pension age I already get a concession.

  2. Definitely UGH. 39 is (so far) as hot as we are expected to get this time round. I am over it.

    1. jabblog; unlikely, our heat usually carries through February and most of March. Even April and May have some days too warm for comfort, but by then at least the nights are cooler for sleeping comfort.

  4. I hope there is some rain coming your way soon. This drought is terrible and the heat just awful.

    1. Tracy; there's no rain on the horizon and might not be for some time. I guess these are drought conditions, but we are mostly used to it.

  5. We are having a two day extreme cold snap in NJ...I'm not complaining!!

    1. joeh; extreme cold is another temperature I hate. We don't get nearly as cold as you do, but after our summers any days below 15C (59F) seem cold to me and some of our winter mornings can be as low as 2C-3C, which is around 35F to 37F so probably warmish to you.

  7. I wouldn't trade mine for yours, and we are moving more than three feet of snow from where it is to any place we won't have to move it again.

    1. Joanne; while I wish for cooler, I wouldn't trade mine for yours either. That is TOO cold.

  8. We are quite cold but that is no problem as it is with extreme heat like you are experiencing. We can at least go outside with proper gear. Sure hope you can get relief soon.

    1. Arkansas Patti; even with the proper clothing I don't think I'd venture out in that degree of cold unless I really, really had to. It might be entirely different if I'd been raised there and was used to it.

  9. Whew! That reminds me of the song lyric, "On a day hot enough to make the Devil sigh." It's from "Watermelon Crawl" by Tracy Byrd.

    1. Val; the name Tracy Byrd rings a bell, did he also sing I'm From The Country or We're from the Country? one of my favourite songs, but the only one I have from him. I'll have to visit youtube.

    2. Yes, he also sang "I'm From the Country." Here's a link for "Watermelon Crawl."

    1. fishducky; and animals. I would hate to have a herd or flock of any type of creature and be responsible for keeping them cool and watered. Even Lola is having trouble deciding which of her favourite sleeping spots is the coolest.

  11. Phew! I really hope it cools down for your soon.

    All the best Jan

    1. Lowcarb team member; I hope so too, but it isn't likely. They're promising temperatures in the 20s next weekend, but that respite won't last.

    1. messymimi; I just heard that next weekend will be cooler, but that won't last. I am grateful for the few cool days we are getting after each hot spell.

    1. peppylady (Dora); compared to your country, our winters are mild, we have sunny days and blue skies, but very cold air and shivering-cold nights. We think we're freezing, but actually nowhere near as cold as you get.
