Sunday selections # 569

Long ago, Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.

A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.

Nothing rude or vulgar though.

And we don't mind at all if overseas bloggers care to join us.

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Andrew is one.  Messymimi is another. Drop in to Elephant's Child and have a look.

the cuttings pot on my front porch is doing well

the white agapanthus in the front garden is blooming again

the pink oleanders seem to be paler this year

this poor little rose isn't getting enough water, it's in the front yard garden and the sprinkler system doesn't get turned on enough in that section. My hose isn't long enough to reach either.

this is that front garden as seen from my front porch. I took a walk through it..

and saw this which I believe is a heath of some kind (?)

and these tiny yellow daisies making up larger flower heads

with these grey leaves. An artemesia perhaps?

most of the flowerheads had already died off

I don't know what this stand of thick strappy leaves is, the leaves are much wider than the clivias in other parts of the gardens.

a bouganvillea has made its way over the fence from the neighbouring yard

the brilliant pink petals are called bracts and they come in many other colours

and the actual flower is that tiny white one in the centre, which looks pink here for some reason.

    1. Mike; that's below freezing in Celsius terms. 0C is 32F according to my conversion chart. Many of our flowers will finish soon, most getting sunbrowned and drooping.

  2. It is lovely getting to see all the life and color. For us, it is like the joy of opening our first seed catalog while still in winter. There is hope.

    1. Arkansas Patti; that's one of the reasons I put flower pictures up at this time of year.

  3. That made me feel a little warmer while fighting my chills and fever. I like the first photo best. The nice green variety.

    1. Val; I do hope you get better quickly. That pot is getting a bit overgrown now, the photo is several weeks old. There is even a baby tree in there, from a seed dropped by a bird I suppose.

    1. Elephant's Child; it is serene to gaze out over the greenery, and even more serene lately since one of the major troublemakers has been in jail since before Christmas.

  5. Up this way if we sit and watch the grass grow we can see it growing...rapidly! Rain has been frequent through out summer so far...with more to come no doubt. I'm not complaining, though (I don't have to mow it!(

Have a good week ahead, River...take good care...cuddles to the lovely Lady Lola. :)

    1. Lee; my grass is growing seemingly overnight too since the recent heavy rains. apart from the bare patches, my lawn is looking quite lush. Lola is loving her bedtime cuddles.

  6. Do keep an eye on the bougainvillea. It can grow so quickly and the thorns are vicious. That's a nice photo above the heath one.

    1. Andrew; the bouganvillea is way over by the fence and out of sight unless you scramble through the greenery. If it starts to get visible from my porch I will cut it back. It's unseen in the photo above the heath, where you can't even see the neighbouring fence.

    1. Dora; thank you. It looks like this for most of the year, but with a few more flowers in the early to mid spring time.

  10. So much beauty! Can´t wait for Spring here.
Ingo insisted on putting on the heating, so at least it´s cozy, if grey, grey, grey.
So nice to see your flowers!

    1. Iris Flavia; Cosy is lovely, heating, warm blankets, hot chocolate, fluffy socks. Your home is colourful enough inside to combat any grey outside.

  11. We are in deepest, darkest, coldest winter here so your bright and colourful floral photos bring me cheer!

    1. Debra She Who Seeks; this is why the earth has opposites, so each can cheer the other when necessary. You see our flowers and feel a bit warmer, we see your snow and feel a bit cooler.

  12. Thank you for flowers and cheer. Today the Sun is shining after the storm. Not a flower to be seen. 7 degrees above zero (Celcius) and still very windy.

    1. Charlotte; the first sun after a storm always makes me feel happy and you will have flowers again soon enough. You have the advantage of melting snow to make your soils more friable for planting and growing.
