Sunday Selections #627
Long ago, Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.
A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.
Nothing rude or vulgar though.
And we don't mind at all if overseas bloggers care to join us.
The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Andrew is one. Messymimi is another. Drop in to their blogs and have a look.
Elephant's Child is still on her break.
Lola sits guarding the door while dozens of mourning doves fight over crumbs on the grass, she will make sure none get into the house.
this is as far as my dwarf sunflowers grew
before the cockatoos ate them to death
looking East one day last week as I waited for a bus
the sky was heavy and grey
yet a 90 degree turn to the South
the clouds were white and fluffy with blue sky
here is Gen hauling herself up on the furniture with Ana close behind watching to see how it is done
fingerpainting with food colouring I think, I'm not sure which twin this is
and here is the other twin smearing purple over the salmon pink, these papers were cut and folded to become birthday cards for their Daddy, with a handprint from each girl.
ReplyDeleteI lost my comment. Where'd it go?
The handprint birthday cards are delightful - real mementoes to be treasured.
How dwarf is dwarf?
What a lovely idea for birthday cards - real treasures.
jabblog; your comment is very widely spaced. J says he will keep those cards forever. Dwarf sunflowers usually grow to only 30-40cm tall, these are only about 25cm. Field sunflowers grow much much taller.
DeleteOh! The lovely Lady Lola certainly is lovely! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd there are the two up and coming artists generously sharing their work with us! And not managing to get paint all over their face!! :)
Enjoy the coming week ahead, River...and cuddles to said lovely Lady Lola. :
Lee; I have just told Lola that you think she is lovely, but she curled up and went to sleep.
DeleteI imagine the paint eventually made it onto the girls faces.
The hand print cards are a nice idea. Your sunflowers look terrific in the photos. Btw, can you ask the person in charge of your weather to not make it too hot next week for our visit.
ReplyDeleteAndrew; the cards will be kept forever in a memento box. It's too late to ask the weather people, midweek, Wednesday is supposed to get to 33, bracketed by 27 on Tuesday and Thursday. Bring your hat and sunscreen, sunglasses too.
DeleteWow, beautiful flower.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Dora; thank you, but it is long gone now and I won't plant more, the cockatoos just eat them.
DeleteLola does a good job :-) Your sunflowers are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAnd so fitting. I hope dwarf Ukraine will be successful against the aggressor.
Like... right now.
1C here, bet much colder there.
Sad the cockatoos ate them :-(
Oh, mind you, I simply love rain in your place! Or in (warm) summers here.
Cute idea with the handprint-birthday-cards!
Iris; I would like Ukraine to win this silly war. I like summer rain too. The handprint cards will go into the memento box and kept forever. Cockatoos eat everything, they don't know that we humans treasure certain plants.
DeleteLola is a good watchcat. The twins will be walking soon! Think how busy the household will be then!
ReplyDeleteVal; I don't think the twins will walk as early as my babies did, but there will definitely be more busy-ness going on once they start.
DeleteWe have flowers popping up and out that are going to get zapped by a 26F temp coming up in a few days.
ReplyDeleteMike; but 26F is still -0C, how can there be flowers popping up? Have they lost all sense of time?
DeleteLola is a smart kitty, keeping the birds out where they belong.
ReplyDeleteYour sunflowers are lovely and those babies make me happy every time you post pictures.
messymimi; Lola almost never sits watching the birds, I think the sheer number of doves had her mesmerised. The sunflowers are long gone now. The babies make me happy too.
DeleteEvil Cockatoos eating your dwarfy-dwarf-sunflowers. I never saw such small and pretty ones in bloom.
ReplyDeleteThe twins are adorable as always.
Cudos to you for keeping the Sunday Selections alive. I hope to be up to more challenges again soon!
Charlotte; cockatoos eat many different flowers as well as seeds, I would have put the sunflowers in the garden, but there is not enough sun for them there. The twins both have teeth now and are learning to feed themselves. Messily, but learning often is.
DeleteOur cats are watching the red squirrels tease them on the other side of the window! Cute twins!
ReplyDeleteJenn Jilks; the twins are getting to be a handful now they can move themselves about.
