Words for Wednesday
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems.
The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind.
If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words.
This month the words/prompts are supplied by Susan Kane and can be found here
This week's words/prompts are:
1. field 2. frog 3. smell 4. check 5. visit 6. gate
and/or:
1. abandon 2. immune 3. temple 4. hand 5. minister 5. habit
use either list or both, or mix and match, just have fun.
If you wish to include Charlotte's colour of the month it is salmon pink for March.
I like your new invitation-banner.
ReplyDeleteYet, I have no clue to a story with these words, so look forward to read yours only...
Iris; I have a few different banners until I choose which I like best. Maybe I will just keep using a different one each week.
DeleteI'll be back with my thoughts. And the banner is great.
ReplyDeleteSusan Kane; I look forward to your story. I like the banner too.
DeleteA story is in the works, i'll be back to link up.
ReplyDeletemessymimi; my story is still a vague idea floating around in my mind.
DeleteThe link for my story is right here.
DeleteIt was allowed for persons to VISIT the relic and enter the GATE but crossing the FIELD was a problem. You first had to pass the dreadful SMELL of dead FROGS and then CHECK your bags with the guard.
ReplyDeleteThe MINISTER was wearing a very strange salmon pink HABIT and did not appear to belong in the ABANDONED TEMPLE. He appeared IMMUNE to the HAND that grabbed him to pull him out the door of the shrine.
"You are not allowed here!" a booming voice screamed at the preacher as the man was tossed to the ground.
Excellent use of the prompts, and it begs the question, why is the minister not allowed to visit the relic?
DeleteInteresting story, perhaps the minister was not really a minister and impersonating another?
Delete. . . and what is the significance of the salmon pink habit?
Deletelinking in with Charlotte's "colour of the month" which is salmon pink for March
DeleteMine has been posted here
ReplyDeleteA beautiful story, I hope others visit to read it.
DeleteSalmon pink is pretty color.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Dora; it is a lovely colour.
DeleteNow I'm done too - thanks for the inspiring words to Susan Kane, and to you for posting them. WfW
ReplyDeleteCharlotte; I loved your story.
DeleteThe frog came out of the ditch to visit the field but when he got to the gate the smell check sent him back.
ReplyDeleteMike; well done :)
DeleteAmphibians, it seems, are very sensitive to smells. Good, succinct story.
DeleteFreddie snuggled into the field grass where he could see the front gate where cars were being checked in. Being Mother’s Day, people had come to visit their moms, bringing large bouquets and lunch from Taco Bell. The frog could smell the spices with hot sauce. Last year they brought Kentucky Fried. How the prodigal adults stooped so low was sad. Freddie hopped off, into the pond. Next year? Who knows. Maybe Wiener Schnitzel will be driving through the gate.
ReplyDeleteSusan Kane; a fun story. I did not know frogs could differentiate food smells.
DeleteWho knew frogs liked chicken? Fun story!
ReplyDeletemessymimi; now I wonder if chickens like frogs.
