Sunday Selections # 248

Welcome back to Sunday Selections!

This once-a- week-meme was originally begun by Kim of Frog Ponds Rock, as a way to showcase some of the many photos we all take, but don't get around to showing on our blogs.

The rules are very simple:-
1. post photos of your choice, old or new, under the Sunday Selections title
2. link back to me, River, somewhere in your post
3. leave me a comment so that I know you've joined in and can come over and see what you've posted.
4. hop on over to Elephant’s Child to see more of her wonderful photos.
  Andrew often joins in too.

I usually go with a theme for my Sunday Selections and this week we're taking a short walk through the gardens surrounding the flats here.

my aeoniums are looking good

so is Angel

maybe if I ignore her, she'll go away

aren't you ever going to put that camera away?

guess I'll go inside and take a nap then.

the scent from this

daphne is just heavenly.

A little overpowering for those of us with hayfever, but there is only one of these and although it's a large bush, the scent doesn't travel far.

one of my echeverias has a flower stem with several buds.

the enormous lemon scented wattle by the front of the driveway is flowering profusely

marigolds. Since taking this photo, all of those unopened buds have bloomed and the display is lovely against the dark aeonium in the same pot.

the pelargonium has flowered again, for a while I thought this plant was going to die

if you look closely you will see a baby grasshopper; his brother is there too but just disappearing under a petal

there are roses

absolutely

everywhere, as you will see

when we walk around the block next week.

going back inside I noticed the scented wax in my burner had dried into an unusual pattern

looks like a pendant pearl necklace fell into the wax which then dried over it.

See you next week, same time, same place.

Comments

  1. I can't decide whether the aeoniums look more like roses or artichokes!!

  2. I don't know whether the garden or Angel is more beautiful. And, since I know what Jazz n Jewel would say, I retract that comment immediately. It is Angel.

  3. And Angel is the blooming loveliest of all...and you can tell him I said so!

Have a good week, River...cuddles to His Majesty! :)

  4. Well I'm back again with my contribution for this Sunday. https://cranethie.wordpress.com/
Angel is a beautiful cat and has definitely bloomed as he has aged. Looking good Angel :)
    Take care

  5. That cat is a hearbreaker, and he knows it.

  6. Angel is very much the adult cat now. That is different daphne to what I used to grow, which was a small shrub with pink flowers.

  7. I love that Daphne and the Pelargonium, I will see if I can find those at garden shops. :) We seem to have different plants in NSW to those I used to buy in Adelaide.

I am such a sucker for any apricot flower but the roses are my Kryptonite.. :)

I'm in the garden too this week -

  8. fishducky; let's say roses, because I don't like artichokes.

Elephant's Child; he is a pretty cat isn't he? But the garden comes a close second.

Lee; I'll tell Angel as soon as he wakes up :) I bet I'll never see that wax pattern again.

Cathy; I'll pop over and have a look when I finish here. Hard to believe Angel is less than 2 years old, he's so big.

Joanne; yes he does and gets away with too much because of it.

Andrew; in cat years, Angel is a teenager, he isn't quite two years old in people years. hid birthday is in December.
I can't be positive that plant is a daphne, but that's what I'm calling it.

Snoskred; you have different plants available because you have better soil over there. I'm not sure the Daphne is actually a Daphne, I should take the photo to a nursery and find out for sure. This bush is over two metres tall. I love apricot roses too and there are lots of them in this area.

  11. Happy Elf Christine; sometimes I think smell-a-vision would be wonderful, then i think of my hayfever and I'm glad I can't smell the jasmine and lilies others show on their blogs.

Rose~from Oz; I've just recently been to your site and heard all your news, I'm so happy for you. Yes, I am well and my world isn't doing too badly either.

  12. How sweet is your Angel :)
The blooms are looking exceptional lovely. I do like daphne, never had any success though..

  13. Angel is a beauty and it is so lovely to see the flowers blooming especially as here everything is brown and dead.

  14. Margaret-whiteangel; Angel is sometimes a devil :(, but mostly sweet. The Daphne isn't mine, it's in a garden further along the driveway and a coupe of metres tall.

Delores; that's why I put the flowers here, so you all have something blooming to look at while your trees etc are sleeping.
