I'd forgotten about this song
until I heard it in the TV series Lucifer
from the show:
"in the beginning....
the Angel Lucifer was cast out of Heaven and condemned to rule over Hell for all eternity.
Until he decided to take a vacation."
(spoiler alert:
Lucifer becomes smitten with a female detective)
and the full version:
A Girl Like You by Edwyn Collins
I hope they play
Hi River,
ReplyDeleteLucifer is a great show. It's good fun.
:o)
Cheers

Plasman; I'm loving every episode :)
DeleteHups. Always thought that was sung by David Bowie?
ReplyDeleteLucifer speaks "very British"!
Iris Flavia; Lucifer is played by Tom Ellis, who is Welsh, that's why the British accent. I think David Bowie did a cover of the song.
DeleteBritish to me sounds, sorry to say, "ete pe tete" ;-)
DeleteSo Bowie I did have in my ear.
Not a song or a show I know. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteElephant's Child; maybe one day you can watch a few episodes.
DeleteYou are really making me sorry I can't get Lucifer anymore. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteArkansas Patti; find someone with Netflix and get them to record it for you.
DeleteWonderful music. I wonder if Bowie ever covered the song. It sounds perfect for his voice. I'll check later.
ReplyDeleteAndrew; it's great 'walking' music and I think David Bowie did do a cover.
DeleteIt's been a while since I've heard this song.
ReplyDeleteI started watching "Lucifer" last year, or perhaps earlier...but never got back into it. I must give it ago again...pick it up where I left off. I think I only watched about half of the first episode Time to resurrect it, perhaps. :)
Lee; it's a great song. You only watched half the first episode? You have missed so much, so very much, I'm almost finished season five, then have to wait until season six comes out.
DeleteI'll revisit it via Netflix, River...all is not lost! :)
DeleteIsn't it amazing how hearing a song can bring back memories.
ReplyDeletemessymimi; it is amazing.
DeleteMust take a peek at that TV Series, I see it's on Netflix - the music sounds really good on your videos River.
ReplyDeleteMargaret D; let me know if you like the series.
DeleteI've never seen this show.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Victor SE Moubarak; have a look, you might be pleasantly surprised.
DeleteI knew this song but nothing about the artist, and went down the internet rabbit hole to read about him and about his later health challenges. It's a very moving story. Thanks for posting the video that started me on that discovery.
